Yes but I feel its overkill to ask for Notary. Come on no other Online game company does that. We also have rights as a customer, and in a sense they should also when a person who does have a lock account should either get a refund for the time its locked or at least have the account reactived with the time it had left before it was locked.
I have also talked with a lawyer and they seem too agree with what I have stated.

Considering people fake IDs like mad to unlock WoW accounts, and considering notaries can tell when an ID is fake or not...it's not overkill at all.

You should know this, being an MMOwned member. It takes 2 minutes in Photoshop to change a name on an ID to something else. Requirement of a notary prevents this.

I don't really care what you or this lawyer has to say. You may believe it's overkill, but Blizzard, I, and many other people do not think this.

    Very good post, +rep =D

    I have a question!

I just scammed an account, transfered a character off of it, and attempted to get it banned, while I was running around org spamming stuff and using hacks and such, the account got recalled, and I no longer have access to it.

The account has been changed 3 times in the past week, I'm thinking, recall it again, either get the account locked, or back and hack some more.

What do you suggest so I didnt just waste 75$?

Ok. True but I feel its kinda of unfair to ones who have to go out and pay for a service such as (WoW) and then to get locked for something else. Then have to pay more money out to get a notary which is not free btw. And then having to fax it.
That is why I am feel it is overkill as for faking ID's it is also something that they can put someone in jail for. As such Blizzard could have someone who fakes an ID go to jail for fruad. I just feel that, I being someone who legally gotten these accounts, and spent the time and effect in them need to pay more to prove that I am who I am. Thats all.
But since you don't care who cares then, well look at it as my point of view. How would you like someone to take away your car, or go to jail, cause someone thinks your not who you are. Things like this do happen. And the cost to get them back is sometimes more then the average Joe or Jane can afford.

That's just it: they don't know when someone is faking an ID. That's not their job. That's the job of a notary.

I have a general WoW CD key question:

If someone were to buy an unopened wow cd key from a store, took it home, and wanted to start up an account with it only to find out it was invalid or already in use and then proceeded to call up blizzard what would blizzard do? Would they track down the person who registered with that cd key in question and ban them?

    Hello,

I have a question regarding account banning procedures:

Say I have two accounts - both accounts share the same name, address, email address and billing information. Then, suppose one of the accounts gets banned (for a serious offense such as powerleveling, botting, exploitation of economy).

Will the other account be banned simply for being associated with the name/info on the other account? Or is a ban solely for the account in question?

    Thank you in advance.

Blizz says that they will ban all accounts with the same info, but as the OP said, it doesn't always (rarely) happen. I know for a fact that they don't retroactively do it, since I got an account banned for chinese botting last year, and made a new account the next week with the same info and haven't been banned yet.

On that note, I've always wanted to try to get my account unbanned with some retarded story about being overseas in the army or some shit and just now coming back like a year later and finding my account banned or some shit. Just for shits and giggle to see their reply to it, but since I have the same info as the banned account on my current account, I don't want them to see that and just ban all 3 of my current accounts out of spite even though I haven't done anything on them but play for real.

What are the chances that if I sent some long sob story about how my brother wanted to give me a B-day present by having my shaman leveled by some website and it got banned would get my current accounts banned as well? I really just wanna see what they'd say back to me, and don't believe for a second that it would work and get the account unbanned lol.

If you want to query a suspension / permaban, what are peoples experiences with response times from Blizzard.

I mean basically, if you fill in the info on their webform, is it the norm to expect a standard 'we have received....' reply in a set amount of time, or do you just have no idea until you receive the 'we have looked at X account, and the answer is yes or no....' email.

How long should you realistically wait before either resubmitting the request, or taking an alternative route and making a direct phonecall.

It appears that while Blizzard are great at sending emails out with the usual noreply@...., they really suck at confirming the receipt of any webform queries.

They would say that you're not allowed to let your brother know your account name and password in the first place, and you are responsible for your own account.

Thank you for the response, but I would like to hear Verye's opinion as well.

So, Verye, would you mind letting me know the "official" stance on the issue that I posted?

Good point. I think i'll just act oblivious to the world and say that i didn't know until yesterday that you could have your account unbanned if it was hacked, and that I waited this long to say something because of the thing in the email that said once an account is banned it can't be unbanned etc. I'm just bored enough to try that to see if I'll get a funny reply, which hopefully won't include them banning my current accounts lol.

From my knowledge, they have only ever banned by associated subscription information.

That means credit card or possibly Paypal account.

Simple: always use game cards. And, you should probably use different emails too, just to be safe and to prevent complications and confusion during unban requests.

So, buy game cards, and use different emails. Very easy.

Wrote a five paragraph letter to Blizz and still banned. Oh well, thanks for the info.
