If they were all for minor things, ubr, then you wouldn't receive an account closure.
It sounds like you didn't read the penalty volcano section carefully enough. I state specifically that ban escalation almost never follows that exact same path.

Oh okay, sorryTy.
Okay, I'm having this discussion with my friend. My friend claims that his friend got an "IP ban" from Blizzard. As far as I know... Blizzard doesn't ban IP's?

Abra su mente a la realidad.
Do NOT contact me about trading section stuff. Contact a section MOD instead.
Blizzard does not ban IPs from connecting, and almost never have they used IP to ban multiple accounts.
But, in some rare cases, where there's an extremely serious crime, such as tons and tons of accounts getting hacked, then they could just ban all accounts associated with that IP.
I doubt this happened to your friend, but it's not out of the question.
Also, Blizzard doesn't actually TALK about IP banning you. If he's claiming he got an email saying "this account and all accounts found to be created from this IP will be closed", then he's lying, since they don't say it, but it is possible he's telling the truth, depending on what he did.

Verye how do you know this stuff? >.>
Ex-employee of blizzard? xD
*Sigh*
Ok, I even put a Table of Contents up. One of the sections is titled "Want to Know More? (How I Know a Lot of What I Know).
But, just to sum up the section and to add a bit more: I've worked alongside Blizzard GMs for a few years, providing customer support to WoW customers in the US Customer Service Forum (CSF). From my experiences there, and from my experiences and things learned in "WoW underground" communities such as MMOwned, I have learned the things I currently know. Also, back then, I could easily ask the GMs any complex/policy-related questions I had, since they're quite different from normal GMs: they're senior forum GMs, and their jobs are sort of to clarify policy. I got to know all of them, and I'd like to say I'm friends with some of them and acquaintences with some others.
I still currently volunteer in the CSF. When I'm not helping people here, I'm helping WoW players there. This also means I can very legitimately double as a Blzzard support rep, essentially (except without the power to physically do anything to your character or account). This is why you may see me answering many WoW-related questions around here: it's essentially what I've been doing for a very long time.
Keep in mind though that I technically don't and never have actually worked for Blizzard. I'm just a hearty and steadfast volunteer.![]()

The Penalty Volcano
I laughed my ass of, is that me!? xD Just kidding
I was wondering does the Warden only scan for programs that are running and affecting WOW or does it also notice changes to the files within the WOW folder?
Yes, it does Archdruid.
And Volcano, what's so funny? That's the official penalty volcano from the official Blizzard support site.
And Szharz, please talk to me over AIM or MSN.![]()

Is "stealing" from the guild bank (being a member who has been given the authorization with months of work; no scamming involved) punishable on the WoW EU servers? Can the GM take the items, reset my gold or do any whatsoever penalty over my character or account?
Thank you in advance. : )
I think the funny part is the relation between his nick and the title of the diagram. ^^And Volcano, what's so funny? That's the official penalty volcano from the official Blizzard support site.

M3lkor, I'll be frank: this is where my disclaimer comes into play.
At this time (or at least the last time a GM said it, which was recently), doing that is completely allowed on WoW US.
Since what you mentioned is a pretty specific thing, I honestly cannot tell you whether or not it is allowed on EU. Sorry.
I do know a lot about the complex specifics of US policy, but for EU, I just don't.
If I were to guess, though, I'd say it's allowed. But that's just a guess based on US policy.

Well, thank you for at least trying to help.
Just one question tough.
I asked the GM about how the policy describes that problem. He said he can't answer cause the policy doesn't describe that problem (?!). Where can I (if I can) get more information to that matter?
You can try the EU Customer Support Forum: WoW-Europe.com Forums -> In-Game Customer Support
