Warcraft 3 questions ARE Lore questions..so long as they are about loreOriginally Posted by Avianar47
"Furion" is Malfurions nickname, and was and is known by that name more often than not. Like my guildies call me 'Alk'.
The Nightmare is a mobile area of corruption born (though not without help) from the twisted thoughts and fears of sleeping beings’ subconscious minds. The Nightmare travels slowly through the Emerald Dream, leaving corrupted, vicious animals and Unwaking travelers in its path. The Night Elf druid Naralex and his former acolytes in the Wailing Caverns have been corrupted by the Nightmare - transformed into the wicked Druids of the Fang. Eranikus, right claw of the Green Dragons, was corrupted by the Nightmare. Even Ysera's most trusted lieutenants (Lethon, Emeriss, Taerar and Ysondre) have been warped by this dark power within the Emerald Dream. Malfurion fights at Cenarius' side against the Nightmare within the dream, but may have been turned into an Unwaking himself.
It is later revealed in the Sunken Temple in the Swamp of Sorrows that Hakkar the Soulflayer is the one responsible for the corruption of Eranikus and was presumably also the creator of the Nightmare. However, Eranikus' later redemption as part of the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj event indicates that the Nightmare goes deeper and is in fact a creation of the Old Gods. (The Old Gods are presumed to be Hakkar's masters, as he is a Faceless One, although this is not explicitly confirmed in-game.)

In Warcraft 3 TFT > single player mode: The Warden goes insane with the whereabouts of Illidan. Except for loosing her mind, what happens to her after TFT? What can the lore master answer about the WARDEN?
It would be awesome if she shows up in TBC.

Thanks for bringing this up! I just finished reading a source book for the Warcraft RPG, Shadows & Light, which has information regarding this.Originally Posted by Orlox
Ive added it to wowwiki now, as well.
Maiev Shadowsong's Alleged death
According to the RPG books Shadows & Light and Alliance Player's Guide (page 6, Maiev has died..
Perhaps contrary to this, the map of Shadowmoon Valley in the expansion shows an area called the Warden's Cage.Originally Posted by Shadows & Light
If you wish for more information on Maiev Shadowsong, the Hand of Justice, please ask. This goes for other subjects as well.

As for the Black Morass, the Black Morass is the area now known as the Blasted Lands, where the orcs first appeared in Azeroth through the Dark Portal.Originally Posted by The Sundering- War of the Ancients Novel

Im afraid that all I have for those two subjects. Sources of Lore are almost non-existant for the Black Morass, as Blizzard did indeed...well, make it up for WoW![]()

Lore questions.
GO!
I (like you) know something about lore (not nearly as much as you, though) I am mainly interested in Illidan and the dragon aspects. I read all the WoWwiki articles on the aspects i could find, but Illidan is something that it still dark to me. I played WC3 and WC3 Frozen throne, and I played attention to the storyline. BTW, who do you think is better... Illidan or Arthas? Why?

Well, If you check back in about an hour, I will have some (if not tons) of information on Illidan. He is my favorite charater in Warcraft Lore.Originally Posted by Apocalyptic_Hunter

I have yet another lore question...
I your post about Black Morassas, you said the dark portal changed the land. It was said because of the dark powers of Draenor.... isn't tha where the Dranei are from? If so, why are there dark powers on there home land? Why are the Dranei so advanced in technology?
Sorry for so many questions, but I think the Dranei are awesome, and if you find any lore other than my questions, I would greatly appreciate it, and if it is too long to post in this forum plz email it to me at: [email protected]
Outland is the name given to the shattered floating remnants of the red world Draenor, the former homeworld of the orcs and draenei, and the current domain of Illidan and his followers. Draenor was a massive planet, and Outland is roughly the same size as the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor combined. A large amount of the action in The Burning Crusade will take place on the largest of the planet's fragments.Originally Posted by Scarmaker
Several thousand years ago, the draenei, a faction of the eredar who opposed Sargeras, found a tranquil planet in the void. Having at last outrun the bloodthirsty forces of the Burning Legion, the draenei settled the planet and named it "Exile's Refuge" in Eredun: Draenor.
Draenor was a peaceful world dominated by vast plains and luscious swamps. Originally, there were many intelligent races, the most powerful of which were the orcs. The orcs lived in a quiet, shamanistic society, until power-hungry leaders, manipulated by Gul'dan, made a blood pact with Mannoroth, general of the Burning Legion, turning the orcs into bloodthirsty barbarian conquerors. The warlock magics wielded by the orcs turned Draenor into a dusty wasteland. The orcs, under orders from Kil'jaeden, decimated the Draenei, enslaved the ogres, and gained dark dominion over Draenor. Before the Horde could destroy themselves in their bloodlust, Medivh and Gul'dan opened the Dark Portal, allowing the Horde (Old Horde) access to the world of Azeroth to start a new war and pave the way for the Burning Legion's second invasion of Kalimdor.
What few draenei survived attempted to load their dimensional ships and launched themselves again into the void in search of a new haven.
Eventually the Horde was beaten back, and Draenor became the focus of an attack, via the Dark Portal, of an Alliance expedition aiming to end the orcish threat to Azeroth once and for all. In the midst of the ensuing battle the Elder Shaman Ner'zhul attempted to allow the remaining orcs on Draenor to escape to other worlds by opening other dimensional portals; however the presence of so many portals tore the planet apart, leaving only torn fragments of the former world floating in the Nether, and the barely-hospitable remnants were renamed Outland. In the explosion most of the life on Draenor was wiped out although a number of orcs, ogres and some of the few remaining draenei survived. After the explosion, a Pit Lord named Magtheridon rallied the surviving orcs and took control of Outland. Using the remaining Dimensional Gates, he drew demons from the Twisting Nether to aid him.
The night elf Demon Illidan and many of the Naga and blood elves fled to Outland and succeeded in defeating Magtheridon and conquering the wasteland. After their defeat in Northrend at the hands of Prince Arthas/The Lich King they returned and established permanent settlements there.
Most draenei that remained in Outland have become horribly mutated, and bear only a passing resemblence to their former selves.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want more information on the Draenei themselves, ask in the thread and Ill get on it.
Ok, how are the Dranei so technologically advanced? They have dimensional ships, and if the orcs were the most intelligent/powerful how come they didn't have ships? Did the Dranei land in Azeroth (Thats the name for alll ocntinents on WoW right?) as the first stop when they fired into the void? Or did they land in other Realms (Thats what you would call them right?) first? And ty for answering soo f**king fast
EDIT: And If you could, I would like to know more about the Dranei themselves.
