The Undermine is an underground city supposedly located on the small island Kezan in the southern seas of Azeroth. It is covered in detail in Lands of Mystery, but is not mentioned much at all in most Warcraft Lore, and only appears in some of the Warcraft RPG sourcebooks, as well as some brief mentionings in the World of Warcraft. It's unclear if it will ever be seen in WoW.

Making their home in the Undermine on the Isle of Kezan is a group of goblins, who have most likely fled here after their disastrous alliance with the Horde during the Second War.

Undermine is home to the fabled goblin trade princes, who hide from Alliance and Horde authorities on Kalimdor. The princes each control their own private armies and trade fleets. As a result, Undermine is a busy place, as the goblin fortess city goes about its business. It's quite likely that a significant portion of the continent's content and cities will be underground. Players will probably be able to get to Undermine via boat from Booty Bay, Ratchet, and/or Steamwheedle Port.

During the High Overlord Saurfang Fact Craze, Alliance players tried to make Bolvar Fordragon a pop culture icon of their own. It was greeted with mixed results, and eventually failed miserably. (This is truly funny crap, but not lore-related.)

    Alexstrasza
    She Who is Life

Once the Titans felt satisfied with their creation upon Azeroth, they left to roam the cosmos in search of new worlds on which they would shape order from chaos, creating new life throughout a myriad of worlds. Before their departure from Azeroth however, the Titans empowered five dragons to become stewards of that world. Their purpose: to guard Azeroth as the Dragon Aspects, protecting the Titans' creation.

Eonar, the titan patron of all life, gave a portion of her power to the Red leviathan Alexstrasza. Ever after, Alexstrasza would be known as the Life-Binder, working to safeguard all living creatures of Azeroth. Due to her supreme wisdom and limitless compassion for all living things, Alexstrasza was crowned the Dragonqueen and given dominion over her kind.

Alexstrasza was one of the three dragon aspects that fought the demons of the Burning Legion during the War of the Ancients. It was also in that war that the black dragon Neltharion decieved his fellow Aspects, using the Dragon Soul (also now known as the Demon Soul) to steal a portion of their power. After the War of the Ancients ended, when Illidan, brother of Malfurion Stormrage, emptied three vials of water from the Well of Eternity over the river of Mount Hyjal, Alexstrasza decided to use the Well as a tool to heal the war-ravaged land by placing a magical acorn from G'Hanir, the Mother Tree, into the new Well of Hyjal. The tree that grew from this acorn was proclaimed the original World Tree of Azeroth, and is named Nordrassil.

Ten thousand years later during the Second War, Nekros Skullcrusher, an orc of the Dragonmaw Clan, was given the Dragon Soul by his Warchief Zuluhed. Using the awesome power of this ancient artifact, Nekros and the Dragonmaw Orcs teleported to the Red dragonflight's lair and captured Alexstrasza and her eldest consort Tyranastrasz. The offspring of these two dragons were then used by the orcs as powerful war mounts. Alexstrasza had no choice but to succumb to this terrible slavery, lest her unborn clutches be slain at the hand of her cruel captor.

After the Second War ended, Alexstrasza became more valuable to the Horde than ever, as a consummation of Horde military power. Thus she was to be protected at all costs. However, Deathwing, ancient traitor to Alexstrasza and her most hated enemy, who had partly arranged for her continued subjugation during the Second War, arranged an elaborate plot to draw her into the open and steal her children in the hopes of generating his own progeny. His plan, however, unwittingly facilitated her escape.

As the orcs began moving their captive dragons away from the fortress of Grim Batol in an attempt to safeguard their slaves from the reach of the Alliance, the caravan was attacked by Deathwing. During the battle that followed, Tyranastrasz was slain by the Black Wyrm, but the ancient Dragonqueen was set free to slay her evil captor Nekros, and to reclaim her children from the grip of the Horde. With the help of her former mate Korialstrasz, Alexstrasza then rejoined the remaining Aspects Nozdormu, Malygos, and [[Ysera]. Together, with the help of the human mage Rhonin, the aspects destroyed the Demon Soul and drove Deathwing into hiding. Even today, it is not clear whether Netharion still lives, or where he makes his brood, but the ravaged orc caravan still remains in the Wetlands swamps.

Alexstrasza flew off with Korialstrasz to roost in Crestfall.

Her fire-breathing children returned to their posts as protectors of all life, and worked to rebuild their devastated race.

Krasus and Alexstrasza now live in Grim Batol as their new lair. The Dwarves' leader was an agent of Krasus and along some 600 dwarves, now guard the dragonflight within Grim Batol.

Among Alexstrasza's abilities, she can regrow forests and heal the land. She can animate the dead and resurrect.

Alexstrasza loves all living creatures and protects them, and she is known for a great compassion. Only those who menace the dragonflights or the world face her wrath.

    King Varian Wrynn

King Varian Wrynn is the former ruler of the Kingdom of Stormwind, son of Llane Wrynn. Following his sudden and mysterious disapearance a few months ago, his 10-year-old son, Anduin Wrynn, was named ruler of Stormwind.

    Past History

Born to King Llane, Varian was a young child when his father was assassinated during the First War. Anduin Lothar served as Lord Regent of Stormwind during the flight to Lordaeron; Varian may be one of the children with Lothar in the image of the exodus from Azeroth. Following the retaking of Stormwind during the Second War, Varian was instated as king when he reached the Age of Ascension, and served as the ruler of Stormwind during the rebuilding of the kingdom. He was one of the few rulers to provide continued support to the failing Alliance of Lordaeron following the end of the Second War.

    In WoW
Varian Wrynn was abducted by the Defias while travelling in secret to Theramore and was held captive for a time on Alcaz Island near Theramore Isle. The in-game quest chain The Missing Diplomat follows the story of his abduction, though it ends abruptly, leaving many players speculating it has yet to be completed by the developers.

Until patch 1.9.0, players could find the king in the sewer dungeons of Alcaz Island, though he served no in-game purpose. After that patch, the king was removed from Alcaz so that Dr. Weavil could set up shop for the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj world event instead. It has been said that the king will be relocated to an unknown place for the continuation of the Missing Diplomat questline. More on the story>>here<<.

It has been discovered that in Patch 1.10 that Varian had been replaced with a elite level 62 monster named Tidelord Rrurgaz, and the sewer full of elite monsters. It should be added, that there is a prison cell next to the Tidelord, leading one to believe that there one day the king will be back in there.

    Shadow

"The ‘Light’ and the ‘Shadow’ are both philosophies of a sort, but they also tap into universal powers that are at play in the cosmos. Good and Evil are real things – not just ideaological distinctions. You’ll see these themes play much more clearly in the coming chunks on content. That’s all I’ll say about that. All those paladins are tapping into SOMETHING to pull off those heals!"

~ Chris Metzen, as reported by Xaran Alamas.

    Necromancer

Necromancers are mortal practitioners of death magic, commonly referred to as necromancy. Channeling their knowledge of the arcane into manipulation of the forces of life and death, these men and women were instrumental in the forming of the Scourge in Lordaeron.

Necromancers are spellcasters whose magics manipulate the power of death. In calling upon this power, necromancers risk being consumed by it - until eventually they join the ranks of the undead.A&HC 35

Most, if not all, necromancers were trained by Kel'Thuzad and his agents in the Scholomance beneath Caer Darrow, otherwise known as the School of Necromancy. Amazingly, the School was never discovered by agents of the Crown of Lordaeron, and remained untouched and functional until well beyond the end of the Third War. The school contains notable figures such as the Lich, Ras Frostwhisper, as well as the headmaster of the facility, Darkmaster Gandling.

The Necromancers continue to abound in the Plaguelands. Overseeing both the spread of the Blight and the construction of new Scourge installations, necromancers are most commonly encountered within and around the ruined city of Stratholme. An elite branch of necromancers, under the command of the dark master Maleki the Pallid, refer to themselves as the Thuzadin, in honor of their lord and first of their kind, Kel'Thuzad.

The origins of Necromancy date back to the First War, when Gul'dan's Necrolytes developed the ability to raise corpses to serve as skeleton warriors in the Horde. But Necromancers have been around since the beginning of the Nathrezim race, who were the first ever known beings to raise Undead from Night Elven corpses (as seen in the War of the Ancients novel).

    Fel

Whereas the magics of the Arcane involves the maipulation of energies found beyond the world, Fel is the magic found in the blood of Demons. As demons consume the energies of the worlds they conquer, those energies are absorbed by the demon's blood giving a magical "High" greater than that of Arcane magic. By sphioning the Fel magics from demons, the user can gain demonic abilites and enhance their own magical powers. Consuming demon blood gives a greater infusion of Fel energy as indicated by the Fel orc's pact with the Demon Mannoroth. Fel energy is more chaotic than Arcane and slowy corrupts the user into a state of decay.

    Demonology
Demonology is the study and practice of using and amplifying demonic powers and the ability to summon items or Demons. (See Fel)

    Warlock History

The original warlocks are the Eredar Warlocks and their lesser brothers, the Diabolists and the Sorcerers.

The first Orc warlocks were the apprentices of the elder shaman Ner'zhul as Kil'jaeden's pawn, but were ultimately loyal to shamanism and to the elder shaman himself. The second generation, created and led by Gul'dan, were more successful, and succedded in turning the orcs against the Draenei, and poisoning the orcish race by tricking the chieftains into drinking the Blood of Mannoroth. In order to police the clans, the Warlocks formed the Shadow Council. Only six of the 25 major clans resisted (the Frostwolves, the Shadowmoon, the Thunderheads, the Laughing Skull, the Bonechewers and the Shattered Hand). Despite the Council, civil war wiped out all but 11.

Gul'dan was later contacted by Medivh, and the two worked together to bring the Horde into Azeroth (Sargeras was aware that Kil'Jaeden had enslaved the orcs and it was easier to bring the orcs than the Legion). Gul'dan led 7 clans (Stormreaver, Twilight's Hammer, Bleeding Hollow, Black Tooth Grin, Dragonmaw, Burning Blade, Frostwolf) the orcs through the Dark Portal along with several refugees who later formed the Blackrock clan. The Warlocks continued as normal until Doomhammer seized power, when he had them exterminated. (Apparently, the warlocks of Stormreaver and Twilight's Hammer survived.) Gul'dan led the last of them to the Tomb of Sargeras, where he perished. The last of Stormreaver's warlocks roam the Broken Isles and the Barrens. The last true warlock was Nekros, jailor of Alexstrasza. Without him, lethargy seeped into the orcs until the rise of Thrall. New generations of warlocks have risen to make their mark upon the World of Warcraft such as the Kil'Sorrow cult. For much more detailed information on this..ask. For information on the original Warlocks, ask.

Among my many ventures into the lore of Azeroth, I inevitable ventured into Ulda'man. At the end there was a holographic image that explained how Troggs are related to dwarfs. Can you explain that even more?

But mostly, he gives a quest chain which leads you to this place called Uldum. Being my 2nd char I was like wtf I never heard of this place! Any explaination behind that?

    Sure mate.

Troggs were an ancient race birthed by the mighty Titans to protect the harmony of Azeroth. Unfortunately, something went very wrong and the Troggs became violent and tempermental. Rather than destroying them, the Titans locked the them away underneath the mountains. More recently, the Dwarves at Dun Morogh delved too deeply and too greedily in their search for ore, and instead of finding a Balrog, they managed to unleash the Troggs back into the world. After several millenia locked away in a little hole in the ground, the Troggs are back, and they are not happy campers.

There is evidence to believe that the Troggs are, in fact, directly related to the Dwarves. Aside from the well known documentation (which could, potentially, have been warped or falsified by some unknown) in the depths of Uldaman, there is, in fact, a witnessed transformation from Dwarf to Trogg. Several members of the Horde assisted a dwarf known as 'Feegly the Exiled' in aquiring a relic of the Titans, excavated from the archaelogical dig in Bael Modan, in the southern reaches of the Barrens.

Upon receiving the item of his desire, Feegly proceeded to rub the artifact, named by the dwarves to be "Tear of the Moon". Chanting "Power! Glorious power!", Feegly was transformed into one of the fearsome Troggs. He died moments later, and the Tear of the Moon fell to the ground and shattered, leaving no trace of the mysterious jewel to be studied.

It has also been suggested, by some fans, that the gnomes, too, are somehow related to the Troggs.

But mostly, he gives a quest chain which leads you to this place called Uldum. Being my 2nd char I was like wtf I never heard of this place! Any explaination behind that?
Uldum is located in the southern part of Tanaris. It is an ancient hall of stone located in the southern reaches of Tanaris desert. Uldum was one of the three ancient halls in which the earthen (the ancestors of the Dwarves) were left to sleep by their titan creators. It is not known what currently transpires within the ancient stone halls. The other two ancient homes of the earthen are Uldaman and Ulduar. Additionally a fourth location, Mauradon, is the location of Terramok, an ancient titan vault. Uldum, is most likely an instance under the rule of Earthen, Golems, Sea Giants, or Titans. This area is one of the Titans (aka The Creators) research labs, created when they where shaping Azeroth.

To enter Uldum, you will most likely need to finish the quest chain The Platinum Discs, which starts at the Discs of Norgannon, guarded by Archaedas, deep within Uldaman.

NOTE: This instance is not yet available.
