Sick of Donation Servers

Like its been suggested before - Owners/Admins/Devs needa work out a *real* custom donation system - Not the generic $5 per OP weapon. Something like $5 for an extra tradeskill & all of its patterns, better looking mounts, port commands, extra [Non combat] spells etc

Just needa get away from that horrid "Donate for PvP OPness" and replace it "Donate for an advantage and pve quicker endgame" without making the instances/group things *require* a few people with donor. My humble opinions anyway.

The fact is no matter what you give OR don't give, you will find some group of people who will complain. example: Some rich person could be offering to give everyone in the world 1000Dollars for free, and there would still be people which complained

Our players have always loved our donation system. We have no donor only items for over 2 years now. Anything you can donate for can also be earned in game via PvE drops or PvP tokens.

I am making a server that should be donation / shop free. I was the creator of Hav0c, I tried having a buy system and it worked well, but I even as the owner got sick of it. Sure I made like a few hundred dollars in a couple weeks and that would pay for all the costs but it just made all my work to build the thing. I am not the owner anymore but my new server will be free of it, and the money will come from ad revenue and maybe just basic donation.

You can't host a server without money as you gotta pay for a dedicated etc, running it from your home pc is fail after you get a good amount of players.

you can easy host a server from home , its just a matter of bw/server for example a 100/100 fullduplex cable with fixed ip is pretty cheap, So i cant really see the need of Donations at all. Id say that a home hosted server is too 80% better then the servers you rent on the server halls, since few server halls have traffic cleaning , open ports , gives out root accses, and gives you a free bw with a decent cable for a price you can afford.

But yeah , Donation sucks and i wouldn't take part off it.

This is an old thread, but donations don't really bother me unless they're really OP, a server I like and play on regularly has donation items better than best blizz items but the people who use them are so bad I can still beat them anyway

Basically its not about donating or not, its an issue to see what donaters are donating for. I want for my server people can donate for a item that doubles how many kill tokens you get per kill, visual spells, and morphs along with mounts. That isnt too much, is it? Oh and titles.
