Recovering an account

Basically, we both have all details, except i'm the original owner, don't know current bnet name in use but can provide ID if required in recovery, would the other person be able to recover it back? (and so forth until the end of time) or will I definitively have access once i've requested to have the account back.

edit: Is there also any way of knowing any recent activity from the chars? no hint of them on wow progress detective, I don't know any other sites other than this..

To get this account back, you need to contact blizzard, and say " hey ive been hacked, this guy has all my details, an i want to get them changed "

theyll e-mail you a form to fill out and fax back with a copy of your ID.

it wont cost you anything, but you can get your account name, sqa and all personal information changed

Thanks for the reply, I didn't realise it was as easy as this, I thought they wouldn't change those details full stop.

How would go around getting access to fax? I havn't seen one of these in use my entire life - honestly. Or is there an alternative to that.

Building on Q2, to clarify basically there's a question on the webform stating 'When did you last use the acc/char' or something. I havn't used it for months but I don't know how long this one has, does it really matter what I type here?

You can attack a digital scan of your ID to the/an email and send it to blizzard that way.
Also impersonating/forging id's is illegal in most, if not all countries. Just a fyi.

Is this if it is found out to be a forgery or if the OO takes action against it... with this being the case the OO is consenting to allowing a forged copy due to having no ID of their own - although still illegal there would be no repercussion of No.2.

Oh ye, about recent activity you can check the wowarmory, you can see when they level, obtain good items, complete achis etc.

Submitted a recovery without ID yday, i'm not sure how it'll be processed after going through the various guides they provide I don't see them asking for it, unless you don't have SQ/A/CD key

It's getting recovered to the original e-mail that it was registered with so maybe thats a +1, we'll see.

youve got a 50/50 chance with that, i still suggest you send in your ID and get your information changed, cause i know from personal experience, people can find out your info quite easy, like original e-mails, and such.

Best way for this is to manually fax your I.D. over to Blizzard, or mail it. Last time I was hacked I mailed it into Blizzard HQ or w/e, but I NEVER GOT MY INFO CHANGED (SQA).

Just want to make a note for all those who have mentioned that 'Transferring to your own acc.' is the safest method even if it the original account gets recovered.

It's totally not, they recovered my characters from back in Oct/Nov, deleting current state characters from where it was transferred too - and the GM wouldn't disclose whether or not that person would be banned/warned or not, but I'd imagine that would be the case.

At the end of the day they can keep track of the transfers, so can we actually. Bummer for that guy who just lost his ICC geared toons, hurr...

Use the webform, i was unsure of it to begin with as when you speak to someone things seem to move faster BUT the webform is a great and fast (if not faster) way of speeding things up. plus it gives you info on what items you need to send/supply for whatever service you need, whereas after 20 mins on hold and a 10 minute convo with blizz support you still find yourself having to email things anyway!
