I got a DBC edit to work with my fix, make sure the MPQ extension is cased properly, also try seperating your DBC edits from your normal edits (ie put them in seperate mpq files).

EDIT: Does anyone know if the patch number/letter needs to be in caps or not? ie the 'A' in patch-A.MPQ

Ahh, forgot about the caps thing...
and i can confirm that the letter's do not need to be in caps. patch-a.MPQ works fine.

EDIT: Seems to be random if it will work or not... cant seem to get it work anymore.. >.<

I have the same problem as you do.
I have the DBC and the model edit in separate files. Tried with names patch-x.MPQ to some random names with .mpq and .MPQ extensions but it still doesn't work.

Call me a noob... but does this only work on PTR or can I use it on regular servers without being banned? o.O

If you dont talk about model editing on live servers, and dont use bg exploits / terrain edits, You wont get banned. Don't give them a reason to snoop around your folders, And they won't, They're to busy worrying about glider and Openbot.

Some DBC files were modified with patch 2.4. They may have gained one or more columns. Since any replacing DBC file must have the same number of columns as the 'regular' file, using old DBCs may just crash you out of WoW.

So if you're having trouble with DBC mods, you'll have to extract the official file, find out how they've changed the format, and update your mod. After that's done, it should work just fine.

yes. And for the record chaz, If you use your MEF to start up WoW on a patch day, You'll get an error which says at the login Screen "World of Warcraft was unable to upgrade, Please reinstall or use the repair tool." Just start up WoW with the launcher if you get that problem.
