Jarod Shadowsong
Jarod Shadowsong is the younger brother of Maiev Shadowsong and commander of the Kaldorei Resistance during the War of the Ancients.
History
Jarod was a minor captain in the city guard of Suramar who was unofficially promoted when he returned accompanied by Malfurion Stormrage, Tyrande Whisperwind, Krasus, Rhonin, and Broxigar. Jarod was put in charge of guarding these important personages and became a valuable supporter of Lord Ravencrest.
Commanding the Resistance
When Desdel Stareye took command after Ravencrest's death, Jarod was named liaison to the Tauren and Earthen, largely because Stareye thought Jarod was used to sacrifice. When Stareye was killed (much to the relief of Krasus and Rhonin), Jarod unconsciously assumed field command of the troops. As a result, the tide of the battle was turned from the death of the resistance to into a small victory within hours. Rhonin, the Earthen and the Tauren insisted that Jarod assume complete command of the allied forces, to which he reluctantly agreed. Jarod's unorthodox tactics were extremely effective in holding the line against the Burning Legion (about 25 miles out to sea from Kalimdor's current coast) with minimal loss of life until the arrival of Archimonde to the battlefield. These battles even liberated the Night Elves from Stareye's mistakes and improved relations with other races.
Towards the end of the conflict, Jarod entered single combat with Archimonde himself. He knew that he would not be able to defeat the demon lord, but he fought anyway...until the portal in the Well of Eternity collapsed, and all of the Burning Legion - including Archimonde - were banished from the world of Azeroth.
After the War of the Ancients
Following the conclusion of the War, Jarod was named one of the major leaders of the Night Elf civilization (the others being Tyrande Whisperwind, Malfurion Stormrage and Dath'Remar Sunstrider).
Jarod was known to have at least partly returned the affection of Shandris Feathermoon.
One day he simply vanished, along with a few personal possessions. He did not say where he was going, nor, in fact, did he bid anyone farewell. Since that time, there have been no sightings of him.

Rhonin was once a promising mage of the Kirin Tor until a disastrous misadventure involving the reckless use of magic cost the lives of several wizards. He was cast into probation until the opportunity for penance arose with a dangerous mission into Khaz Modan. He was assisted in this mission by the High Elven ranger Vereesa Windrunner, the warrior Dwarf Falstad Dragonreaver, and the dragon-mage Krasus, who was the instigator of this mission.
He was also assisted (at first) by the evil dragon Deathwing, but Deathwing's true purpose was to steal some of Alexstrasza's eggs to replenish his own decimated dragonflight. With a gemstone created from Deathwing's scale, Rhonin was able to destroy the Demon Soul and release Alexstrasza.
During this mission, Rhonin and Vereesa fell in love, and were later married. Along with Vereesa and Krasus, Rhonin was among the few well-known survivors of the Scourge that destroyed Lordaeron, Dalaran and Quel'Thalas after the corruption of Prince Arthas. Most of Rhonin's family, including his father, were killed during the fall of the town of Andorhal.
While he and Vereesa were preparing for the birth of their twin offspring, Rhonin was once again summoned by Krasus for help. Apparently, the dragon-mage had discovered a rift in time, which swallowed both of them, along with the Orc veteran Broxigar. The three were sent 10,000 years back in time to the first invasion of the Burning Legion.
While in the past, Rhonin encountered legendary beings such as Cenarius, Malorne, Aviana, and became friends with the heroes Illidan and Malfurion Stormrage, Tyrande Whisperwind, Jarod and Maiev Shadowsong and Shandris Feathermoon. Rhonin actually became Illidan's mentor, but despite Illidan's admiration, much of Rhonin's work involved cleaning up Illidan's mistakes. When Illidan defected, Rhonin assumed command of the Moonguard. As a reward for Rhonin's courage, Nozdormu allowed Rhonin to return to Vereesa at the moment she went into labor to ensure he would not miss a moment of the twins' lives. Nozdormu also offered the children the friendship of the Bronze Dragonflight.

Not really lore-related, but we think its SSC..or did think, I don't think they look similar at all, now that I've been there.

Well, in truth, Horde also ride gryphon's and the Alliance also ride wyverns, it is simply not in-game.

Tauren have a long and complex oral tradition that has been handed down for generations. Since almost no written record exists of tauren history, the accuracy of their tales is ambiguous. Regardless, many of their stories provide the only known account for several events in history, and so these stories must be regarded as having at least some believability. The tauren race is as old as, if not older than, the night elves and much like the elves, they have a strong attunement to nature and the elemental spirits. Thus, their society is largely based on shamanism. They live to serve nature and maintain the ever delicate balance between the wild things of the land and the restless spirits of the elements. In addition, elements of druidism, which had been taught by Cenarius and then forgotten over millennia, have been recently reincorporated into tauren society, further highlighting their service to nature. In particular the presence of accounts regarding Cenarius before he was known to the elves (the "war of the ancients" trilogy refers to the night elves believing Cenarius to be a bedtime story before allying with him during the war) that are confirmed by others sources as being accurate, indicate that taurens were already a civilized presence in Kalimdor before the rise and even maybe existence of elves. In particular the birth of Cenarius is covered and their version confirmed by night elven mythos, as well as in the book "The Sundering" by Richard A Knaak.
As for related races? The tauren's name and appearance are based upon the Minotaur of Greek mythology. The Minotaur was a creature that was part man and part bull.

Before World of Warcraft shipped, Blizzard talked about implementing something called a Hero Class. These would be classes derived from the base classes, but with more specialization and somewhat tied to Warcraft lore. The idea of a hero class is presumably taken from the Warcraft III hero units.
Currently there are no hero classes in WoW but they are in the planning.
Blizzard Says 'Maybe Not'
We are still interested in alternate character advancement, but the term 'Hero Class' should probably be discarded. There is way too much expectation carried in the words. The theories and ideas that have been aimed towards alternate character advancement will not likely take the form of 'new classes' and player speculation on such things is fairly divergent from what design ideas have been discussed.[4] -Tseric on June 15th, 2006
From Nethaera, about two weeks later:At current there are no plans to implement Hero classes or siege weapons. I know how people were hoping for and expecting these things to be added in but focus and ideas have changed. The thing to understand about those ideas is they were stated relatively early on when there were a lot of other concepts being juggled. It just so happens that these couple of concepts don't fit in with the current plans for World of Warcraft. Believe me when I say I was hoping for some nice ballistae myself.

The thread containing that post was deleted at roughly 4:30 PM PST that same day. Nethaera responded to a different thread with: Hero classes have not been canceled. My newness has bitten me on the rearend. After talking to Ordinn I was informed that there is no new news on this and things are still on the table. I apologize for the misunderstanding and you may commence with the floggings.

What's happening with, or happened to, the hero classes?
Frank Pearce, Senior VP of product development at
Blizzard, responds:
Hero classes. Yeah. So, hero classes have fallen into the category of feature backlog. We don't have any immediate plans for hero classes, it's not part of The Burning Crusade. It's something we'd like to evaluate more going forward. But, you know, if and when.[5]
