The trick is to not focus on plate. Even cloth/leather/mail items with mastery will help.

It's mostly about reforging the items highest stat, you will get 70-80% easy with that.

Well as I posted earlier I made myself one of these paladins.

I can confirm it works. I have the same gear as the Russian paladin posted earlier, with a few modifications (Level 80 boots with more mastery, BS for another two gem slots for mastery). I've done Baine, Garrosh, Onyxia 25, some of ToGC before I had to go to work. Will be trying ICC and some Cata raids later, and I'll probably try do Sha of Anger with my friend who made a DK.

I'm at 67% mastery unbuffed at the moment (using the engineering trinket), and I don't understand how it's possible to get to 80% mastery. Best I can do is 73% with Elixir of Mastery and damage doesn't seem to glitch at this level.

You get the mastery from the Windsong and Porcelain Crab buffs. Combine that + SotR + mitigation such as block and parry and you just skyrocket.

EDIT: Also, there is a mastery food called "Lavascale Ministrone" with an extra 90 mastery and 90 stam.

Would it be possible simply grab all those mastery pieces from blackrock caverns and serpentshrine... they are at roughly 308 ilvl but provice over 100 mastery per piece, some even 150-170 mastery, and skip the expensive 400+ilvl pieces that are heavily overpriced and only good for reforging? I do however realize that you cant enchant those sweet mop mastery enchants on lower gear.
At what point does the mastery flip out and affect vengeance that badly, is 80% the magic number, which can only be obtained through trinket proc?

So you have atleast 10 pieces of the MoP 80s items or what?

You do not need 80%! 69% are totally enough because you just need the 100% dmg reduce with SotR which is reacheable with 69% mastery.

Sure, as long as you reach the 69% mastery cap. But the MoP lvl 409 Items have huge amounts of other usefull stats as Stamine/Strength/Expertise on it. The bosses in ICC HC hit really hard as long as you don't have enough Vengeance to get 100k Sacred Shields. So it will be pretty hard to survive the first minute of the LK HC fight.

But feel free to try and respond if you get it to work with Cata items :>

Theres a lot of false info being thrown around in here. If youre trying to do this on your 80 pally id recommend that you read this post that Aelobin (the 80 DK) wrote. He even managed to do the vengeance bug on his DK so i think his theory is right.

Just so everyone understands, 80% is not required it's just nice to have, you have have around 70%(2492 to be exact) and still be fine! Have fun!
