Hey guys here is the info that I have this far from my own experience:
1. Yesterday was the 1st time when I entered the game and it restricted me to spin the pokestops by notifying to "try again later" on all pokestops
2. Very early today (at around 1-2 AM) the game started to give me the error saying""Failed to get game data from the server."

People are saying that they have got their accounts normally working after the pokestops error (NOT A SOFTBAN), although I have not met anyone anywhere saying that they have got the server issue after the pokestops "try again later" error. So I don't really know but the reason it fails to retrieve data is something I have encountered earlier, when the servers where overwhelmed.

My assumptions (either/or):
1. this might be an error connected to some backend chemistry the Niantic is doing there and we might get back our accounts
2. this is just a serverside error that many of us have encountered earlier (might be connected to the game launch in different new regions)
3. finally the accounts might really be suspended, although I don't really think/ don't want to think so, because they couldn't monitor anything except for the sudden location changes and the account level. They also need to officially notify you about your account being suspended, which they have not done yet.

Anyways these are my thoughts out loud.

I personally encountered this and posted about it earlier in the thread, you could of missed it cause it was on page 100 or so. My ban started off with a full softban, unable to loot pokestops, catch pokemons or fight gyms. Waited about 2 hrs, then I could not loot pokestops but could do everything else..

Little bit of info about it, it's a google account, my bot was running around 20km/h and it was actually fine until I decided to stop botting and get the account back in canada.(it was botting in central park). So basically what caused it was teleporting from one country to the other in a second, and then the quickspin to unban the softban didn't work.

The failed to get data from server message only came up when I woke up after thinking my account was going to be fine cause it was technically just softbanned at that point (only pokestops), and it must a took a few hrs to get to that. Also I was still logged in when I woke up, I was able to catch pokemons and fight gyms, but when I went to a pokestop it appeared blank, so I tried to relog only to get the error..

I think it is possible that they are perma banned, judging by the way niantics runs things and barely communicates with customers. It is still ****ed, because every game I've ever played and hacked/botted, you would at least get an email or a notification upon logging in saying the reason why you got banned, and I've hacked/botted a shit ton of mmorpgs, it's the first time I've encountered something like this. I'm trying to stay hopeful that it isn't a perma ban, but if is.. That's kinda the way she goes right? Gotta expect this kind of stuff if you bot on a game. For now it's best not to jump to conclusions though.. We could very well just be banned for x amount of hrs or just stuck in a bad server. Only time will tell, and when we finally figure it out there's going to be a shit ton of people saying "I TODDA SO" whether it is a perma ban or not, I'll be in the group of people saying "I didn't know what the **** was going on, so I didn't assume anything till it was figured out". I have my own guesses of what's going on, but I'm just some guy who doesn't work for niantics and my word means squat, like pretty much everyone else's in here.

welll i think its clear enought that was mass ban that will never stop, same as devs will never stop bypass theyr "updated systems" its like war in Syria never will have end.
but its clear enought that someone recive soft-ban (not perment) who deservs perment but some of those who deservs perm ban got soft bans

I'm pretty sure i've been semi permabanned. I can catch pokemon and see pokestops, but I can't farm pokestops at all. It has been like that for the past 14 hours. Tried to spin pokestops too.

Honestly, think about Supercell and Clash of Clans, xmod was up and running for so long and so many people got a real in game advantage thanks to it but still, Supercell the biggest mobile developper, just banned for 14d and not perm for the biggest "hack" of the game and they noticed you.

Niantic just perma ban everyone without saying anything ? It's probably true but it makes me laugh

Edit: and I think that they cannot permanently ban you without telling you anything if you put money in the game.

my problem in account used bot sniper etc ..... lvl 23 almost 24 the problem start at 4 hours ago my problem before as cant catch pokemons the pokemons flee but i was able to take pokestios but now i get this i cant take pokestops and no pokemons i think is new way to ban accounts os soft bans

The only way Niantic banning makes sense here is if they are still going through accounts in some order and banning them. That would explain why they haven't formally said anything as they're still in the process of banning accounts and don't want to alert botters/spoofers, and it would also explain why older accounts seem to be getting banned first.

Other than the above, no other explanation that involves Niantic banning accounts makes complete sense, but at the same time I do think this is probably what's happening. The progress from the soft-ban to the "can't get data" error seems like Niantic have already run a program that has gone through all their users and soft-banned suspected botters, and now they have a much more slow and thorough script analyzing each account separately and it's either releasing the soft-ban or permanently banning the account using the "can't get data" error.

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.

I have same problem. ON NOX i can catch pokemons but when try to farm pokestops I get " try again later" warning. I tried 50 different pokestops and all the same.
