Now i've been following this thread since the beginning and i just want to put my two cents in. I was soft banned yesterday for approx 12 hours before my account was restored. i was able to fight gyms but could not collect pokestops or catch pokemon. I decided to start up a bot with human like settings on a new account to see if they had finally caught on. The bot ran smoothly from 9a.m. yesterday (eastern standard time). Periodically i would shut off the bot and turn it back on to reset the time the account was active. Today at 11a.m. the account was soft banned. Once again i cannot collect pokestops and catch pokemon but i can fight gyms. I will let you guys know when the soft ban is lifted so you can have an idea of what to expect if you do decide to bot on a new account while you wait for your main accounts.

Has anyone in here been (soft)banned that wasnt sniping?
Because I seem to get the catchflee ban when sniping, havent gotten it on accounts I dont snipe on.

I never did sniping on ANY account, from what I've read in TOS and comments here, it doesn't matter, any third party app use is punishable

My accounts I stopped so long ago don't work :/ 'failed to get data...'

My newly made account botted for about 8 hrs, got it up to level 22 and it was soft banned at around level 21. Catchflee issue. Now i'm going to wait it out to see if that is fixed. I logged into the game and chose starter pokemon, a gym, and a screen name after ban. The starter pokemon did not flee.

You are forced to catch the starter pokemon no matter what from what I've seen (or pikachu)

This doesn't mean that they ban in waves, they found a new way to see if ppl bot and then decided to ban, thats why they didnt ban you before that.

I don't know if i'm right but for all i know they ban at the same time for multiple reason, one being that the banned guy can go warn the others

Dunno bro. Got 3 accounts, lvl 33, 27, 23.

23 is my legit account, but i did exp bot on it.
33 is my main bot account and i frequently use it to take over gyms.
27 was a test account i did with haxton the day before the entire mess came.

None are banned.
2/3 accounts were created when the game started to about a week into it.


I think the accounts flagged were accounts that were either running too long when the API changed and kept receiving no data, but was sending requests to receive data from niantic servers.
OR
They were accounts who were botting during the day that niantic decided to sweep accounts and give them the "cannot retrieve game data error."


Nothing else really makes sense since i have done anything possible to get myself flagged previously, but have not been.
Used sniper, used necro for massive exp, used necro sniping with multiple locations, teleported to AUS, France, Tokyo, Hong Kong, various states in the US.

The one thing I DID NOT DO was put pokemon in gyms in other countries (hell, even other states and cities), other than the local area I literally live in.
Could be something to do with it but i doubt it. Feel like the first two idea i posted are more logical.

Um, i tried to do this on a new account i made around the day before people started getting the Retrieving game data error.... It wouldn't let me progress into the game if I didn't catch a starter pokemon, it also didn't let me bot past level 2 without choosing a starter.

Perhaps this has something to do with flagging?

I stopped my bots roughly two weeks ago before sniping came and before the api change thing. I was already sitting back on a collection of accounts.

None of these accounts work anymore, ironically the one account I made 3-4 days ago that was running through all this and is still running, has no softbans or errors

I expected a straightforward ban hammer, not this weird sketchy, possibly a ban, possibly not a ban

That's what I thought before, but the problem is, one of my accounts that got the error was never botting, sniping or even catching any pokemon. The only thing it did was spoofing in a limited ~500 m radius circle.

So an update to my situation, the acc that I got back from the "failed to get game data from server" (the one where I boted and sniped the hardest) is still ok and sits at lvl 26, I can catch pokemon and fight gyms w\o problems, my main acc (lvl 32) and my gf's (lvl24) still encounters the login problem. I have received no e-mail regarding any ban whatsoever. I Didn't held any gym and last time that I fought one was maybe 4 weeks ago, prior to any boting.

on other news I started boting a new acc yesterday on PokeMob and sits softbanned at lvl 21, I am letting it rest until I bot it again later in the evening.

It could be a server problem as people say or a ban where they just lock up your accounts / usernames but in the case it does become free and you bot another account don't make it similar in name
