I can personally guarantee they ban in waves.
I haven't botted in weeks since they messed up the API for botters. (1-2 weeks ago?)
I haven't even opened the app on my phone for two weeks.
Opened the game last night to see if this game data thing impacted me. it did. I'm locked out.
Checked again this morning... still locked out...

I suspect this first list was made weeks ago... and people playing since then are laughing about how they aren't banned... but they will likely be the next list... that already exists.

yes, they can detect botters that's for sure, otherwise we won't have this problem at the first place.
but, they don't backlog. They ban the one that are using the bot when they'd like to ban.
because all my accounts except 1 was banned. (I was botting on that one account during the day)

If they are banning all of botters, then all my accounts should be banned couple days ago.

This is not a troll, I too was able to login and play normally after getting the failed to revive player data from server, yesterday. I got the message around 10am, didn't think much about it- but after a while I started to suspect- once in a while I would get the we are humbled message. (I work throughout the day, but check whenever I get the chance) . At this point I thought this was for sure a perma ban. I checked this morning again, just to see if waiting it out resulted in good news and it did. I have attached the screenshot of getting the error yesterday and my logged in account today. I am level 39 . Botted from start to finish, and sniped as well. There is still hope. Many of you probably won't believe me and think this is a troll, But I'm just here to say there is still hope. You might still get your mains back

okay, i will give you a tip. yesterday i get unbanned and used pokebuddy after that for an half hour with 6km/h, got a soft ban and got unbanned at night.
MY TIP : DONT USE POKEBUDDY OR NECROBOT ... my bot is taking breaks and dont farm every pokestop he get. I think the system is running like, when you use every next pokestop at higher than 5km/h for hours, they will detect it.
Running another bot now for 6 Hours and haven't any problems

This doesn't mean that they ban in waves, they found a new way to see if ppl bot and then decided to ban, thats why they didnt ban you before that.

I don't know if i'm right but for all i know they ban at the same time for multiple reason, one being that the banned guy can go warn the others

I think it depends on the day Niantic start the ban wave, which accounts was using bot?

I have severals accounts, and all of them were fine (higher level too), except 1 (the one that's botting on that doom's day)

So Google botted from0-37 no gym team giving me data error
Ptc botted 21-37 fine own 10gyms in Russian never get battled.
So I think gym is not the main factor regarding the cause of this error

Has anyone in here been (soft)banned that wasnt sniping?
Because I seem to get the catchflee ban when sniping, havent gotten it on accounts I dont snipe on.

Well this is a blessing haha so happy for you! Please don't bot or be really careful with that...
I'm seriously losing my last 2% of hope on this since I've waited more than 24 hours now but it's good to know some other people could get their accounts back anyway!
You didn't have to set it all up again with your character?

Everything was normal, items and Pokemon were all there pokestops were fine I can loot and I am able to catch pokemons.

Fun fact (well, maybe not fun): I have the "failed to get data" message on one of the 3 accounts that i didn't even bother to check before, cause I've used them ONLY for PokemonGOMap scans before the API change. It's level 1, has no pokemon and it's only activity was walking in spiral for some hours more than a week ago, so that's weird...
