Ok and you had to wait like what for that to happen? Just curious because I know it's variable

Had the catch flee softban like 24 hours ago, which turned into the "failed to get data" after. Logged in to check my account this morning and was unbanned with everything intact. From looting pokestops, catching pidgeys, everything's gucci.

I was soft banned yesterday for approx 12 hours before my account was restored. i was able to fight gyms but could not collect pokestops or catch pokemon. I decided to start up a bot with human like settings on a new account to see if they had finally caught on. The bot ran smoothly from 9a.m. yesterday (eastern standard time). Periodically i would shut off the bot and turn it back on to reset the time the account was active. Today at 11a.m. the account was soft banned. Once again i cannot collect pokestops and catch pokemon but i can fight gyms. I will let you guys know when the soft ban is lifted so you can have an idea of what to expect if you do decide to bot on a new account while you wait for your main accounts.
what speed were u using?? I botted for like 15 hours on PGBot going at 15km/h before I got soft banned from pokestops and catching pokemon. maybe i'll lower it to 10 or 12

If this is a ban I think it is random, meaning that, ok they detect the bot (or whatever means they deem cheating), and some get the perma some get the soft and some are lifted as false positives. you could argue that it doesn't make sense, that they have ways to check it in depth, but it does make sense bc this is Niantic and I don't know if they have the man power to do the work required, check it, the one that I botted like a dog is back but my main isn't? they had the log in prob both but only one came back. I think it was flagged as a false positive and they gave it back... How they check for false positives must be as efficient as their 3 step tracking system, and if it is, I think it can be abused.

new type of ban? when i spin pokestops all of them say "try again later" so i cant spin any pokestops or catch any pokemons but i can see both of them and my bot detects softban and when it tries to unban it doesnt work. did the bypass get patched?

Is that complicated to post a picture of your account with level and blur the name?

Exactly, as a developer i can confirm this sounds like the most plausable explanation. It seems that false-positive filter has quite big impact here. I think their priority is to not ban legit players
