    Leechers, repcheats, and actual contributions.

I joined here this month hoping to find some good discussion of exploits and hacks between people who actively look for such things. For the most part I am very impressed by what I see, especially Matt and the Epic/Legendary posters. All in all a great site.

However, a few things bother me about this board. For one, people who don't try to contribute, don't give +rep for things that should get it, and don't even post to be a part of the community. I know I am new, but during my time here I have tried to make an effort to share what I can, even if I don't discover some grand new exploit.

This thread: http://www.mmowned.com/forums/wow-ex...tml#post462071 has had more than 1200 views and all positive comments, and I got like 4 rep. I may seem a bit of an ass using my own post as an example,
so here is one I didn't start: http://www.mmowned.com/forums/wow-ex...s-dummies.html

That post is epic win and probably used by every scrub guild officer to impress his guildmates with "haxlol" and the op has 27 rep.

    27!

Twelve THOUSAND views and 104 comments and he only gets 27 rep ffs. That is out of line. Give that man the rep he deserves.

The second thing that bothers me are people who scam +rep by reposting something a year old that doesn't even work anymore. The post gets deleted, people forget about him, he scams more rep until someone notices his shennanigans and bans him. God knows how many people are doing that.

The third thing that bothers me, which is related to the first two, is that people who actually contribute and try to give the best advice they can on whatever subject the know best, people who give good advice and provide working exploits, are not generally respected by a lot of gray and white names. Leechers flaming and white namers talking smack about some blue/purple/orange poster's contribution is offensive. I recall when I was around Blizzhackers how they would routinely purge people who badmouthed good contributers. Sadly that site and most of the good people there were shut down because of NARV infiltrators and Blizzard rats.

Anyways, sorry about the rant. Isn't there any sort of solution to all of this? Maybe instead of a forum go button, you could have an exit thread button with a prompt asking if the thread was helpful or useless. It wouldn't be perfect but at least then people would get credit for hard work, good advice, friendly attitudes and community spirit.

    Leechers, repcheats, and actual contributions.

    LOL NOOB jk

I agree, there are many *******s on this forum, and people dont give rep even when they use it, this has to be fixed somehow, although i was a lazy leecher a while back, and didnt contribute cause i couldnt find anything interesting worth sharing in the game, but i still did REP people's attempt to contribute.

I have been on this site long enough to see people who say "Thanks" "Nice man" but dont give rep, when they use it. Something needs to be done about this, as it bugs me also.
    :banghead:
Or maybe if a leecher is flaming, we can have a system where the public clicks a button on the post where the leecher is flaming ect. ect. and if he gets enough reports for being a jackass, his posts will be ignored, and can only be seen if u click a button saying "Show Post"

yeah dude, i totally agree. I also hate it when people say, Hey i am giving away free accounts, its a raffle, just put ur name in there. And people rep him for being so nice and all. But in the end, he doesnt even give u an account. There should be a law against it, if you say that ur going to give someone something and you dont, there should be consequences.

I have also noticed threads which have like 700 views, and from between 300-700 views, no one says anything, and you can tell that the person who started these threads put a lot of time into it and have links and all. People should give the person feedback, not just read it, use it and then not even leave a comment. People get better because other people point out errors and how to make their posts better.

Yea, but as we know, asking greys and whites to respect people, and not leech is like asking teenagers not to have sex, and we all know thats not gonna happen lol.

Then there are all these reposts like he said, and they will get rep because someone didnt know about it, when some1 posted the same thing a week, month, or year ago, its really stupid. I posted a exploit for coldblood a while back, and i only got 2 rep from it, and aobut 7 posts, and over 500 views, its rather gay.

    Makes me wanna /wrists lol.

Maybe a thing that, when you want to post something, always asks "Do you want to give this member rep for his thread?"

As much as your post may be impressive and all, it's inevitable, unfortunately.
Leechers, flamers, noobs etc are a part of the internet. Period.
You can't get rid of them, unless you set up registration permissions, recruitment rules and stuff, like Glowing Mushroom has. But not for a forum which is open for everyone, like MMOwned.
You can get rid of flamers by deleting their posts/banning them, aka moderation.
Just live with it...there is no way around it.
    A solution for everything: moderators.

Very true, but moderators arent always there, so they cant always do everything, maybe they should let the public take some things into thier own hands, cause once ONE person starts flaming, it starts a flame war in the topic and then they go off topic, maybe a mute function, like for instance i said earlier, if enough people report some1 for flaming, leeching ect., then their posts will only be seen if the user un-blocks them, or they click a button saying "Show this users post"

Leechers on the other hand, its impossible to cure, its always going to be there, but u can lessen it.

If I could, I would give everyone that contributes to this site a +Rep! (if they do enough contributing around here... Most likely active members nd above!)
Like you! +Rep but it don't let me!

IMO, 99% of MMOwned are leechers, Thats how its always been on every forum ever made, and thats how it'll always be. I don't personally want to be rid of them, simply because MMOwned will have about 600 members left. Be happy that people like the work you're contributing, whether or not you get rep for it

The second thing that bothers me are people who scam +rep by reposting something a year old that doesn't even work anymore. The post gets deleted, people forget about him, he scams more rep until someone notices his shennanigans and bans him. God knows how many people are doing that.
We do our best to stop this, you have no idea how many reposts I delete a day, Normally these posts only last until a staff member sees it and deals with it, and the person is...punished...

Flaming and/or insulting other members is strictly forbidden, and all these posts are dealt with severely, except theres one difference, Flaming / insulting ANY member is forbidden, not just against people who contribute, everyone here is a person and has the same rights as everyone else, and we treat them so, you have to remember this is the internet, people find it SO much easier to insult people because they can remain anonymous. I spend 100% of my time on MMOwned doing sweeps through MMOwned (each sweep takes on average two hours hours, *yawns*) to stop both your second and third problems, not to mention I constantly check reports. We do our best to keep this forum clean, It may take a bit for a post to be cleared up simply because there are no moderators on, or they're checking another section, etc. etc. but we do get them asap...

Theres not much we can do for any of these, We need leechers, believe it or not, to thrive, or else we'd have hardly any members and as for flamers..well..they come with the internet, we do our very best though.

Right now, I'm more of a leecher, but I'm still learning. When I learn stuff and can start experimenting by myself and find out new stuff, I'll start contributing, but 'till I can do that, I can't do to much. I try to post on on topics and not be a guy who just looks on the guide, downloads/does whatever it's about and then leave like nothing ever happened. If I find a good guide, and it helped me and everything, offcourse I +rep if I can! Anything else is just stupid.
