That explanation solves only a part of the problem. You also have to use a filter textfile in a version with CR+LF as line separators. The filter versions distributed here in Hud's github repository are in in a textfile format with only LF as line separator. And this doesn't work in current Hud version.

Short workaround: Use a Neversink or other filter in Hud's item alert with CR+LF as line separators. I used a version downloaded from Neversinks Website filterblade.xyz and it comes with CR+LF as line separators and works flawlessly in Hud's itemalert.

Better longtime solution: Hud's item alert should be changed to work with both types of textfiles as itemfilter.

Is there currently anyway to get entity owner from the core?
writing a plugin to display hp-bars for my minions, but cant seem to find a way to make is so it only show for <my> minions, and not every other summoner that i happen to group with.

If you are referring to the uber lab layout plugin in the first post... just copy/paste the link and remove (edited) from it.

It was never linked in the first post. I didn't link to a plugin I was selling unless someone asked for it specifically.

There's an advanced uber lab layout plugin in the first post, which I just fixed the link to, though.
