Thanks for sharing this has been such great help!!,
however, I am having trouble since the update. I deleted everything and started from the beginning. so I started by logging into WOW uninstalled RestedXP, Relogged to reset everything and make sure I had no RestedXP installed. Deleted all my saved caches in my WTF file. reinstalled RestedXP on CurseForge downloaded your file and extracted it using NanaZip (I'm on Windows 11) into World of warcraft/_classic_era_/Interface/AddOns and relogged into WOW and I am still only getting the guide to level 20. Please help I dunno what I am doing wrong. I have tried a couple different ways to extract the file but am still only getting the guide up to level 20.

NVM I have sorted it I was downloading the entire folder and not just the RXP leveling.rar

I still ask why people choose to download a whole directory for 1 file.

Go to link, click file download.

But people go to link, download the whole directory. Then come here claiming it does not work.

That means if I have 10 files in there, people would still download it all.

Here's what's happening:

New users:
Download and install the addon via CurseForge updater.
Download the leveling guides and extract them using 7zip or WinRAR into the addons directory.
They don't face any issues.

Returning users:
For some reason, they are placing the RAR file (unextracted) in the wrong directory.
They then come back saying it's not working.
The issue arises because they update the addon without deleting their previous saved variables, which causes corruption when installing on top of the old version.

I could recommend deleting the "WTF" folder or saved variables and starting fresh, but that would result in losing their settings, which isn't ideal.

If users followed the original installation instructions, there would be no issues. It seems that the problem stems from where the files are placed in the folder.

Puppy were too fast to take the file not do it then complain it doesn’t work

You did exactly what I said? So you used 7zip to extract it with?

The last 3 people that claimed they did exactly what I said. Used windows extractor, when I did to use 7zip. They put it in the wrong folder, when I said addons. But they claim they did exactly what I said.

The thing is, if people did exactly what I said in the first place, it would work.

Reason?

No read only folder
No saved variables
No damaged install
No downloaded directory and only the file

But people say nothing and when they cannot get what they want, they speak.
When they can get what they want, they say nothing.

You say you installed it what is it?

Seeing if people installed the leveling guides as I said, yes, it will show up with the guides

Here is my point. People are so fast to take the file and say nothing.
Well, it doesn’t work. I didn’t follow the instruction. They come back and say something.

They do not say what they downloaded.
They did not say what they extracted.
They did not say where they extracted it to.
They did not say if they had it before or not.
They did not say if they actually fully uninstalled, including the saved variables.

All they say is it don’t work.

Well forever, everyone else that installed it correctly did work.

Can you please explain step by step, what should be done?

I had trouble getting it to work, but finally made it happen. I think something people dont understand is to download 7 zip to your computer, and extracting the files through that. Thats the problem i had, also deleting, the WTF file in your world of warcraft folder.

For others who cant make it work.

First delete restedxp on curseforge, delete the WTS file in your "world of warcraft" folder, then download the file linked first in the original post, "Leveling Guides, Extract to Addons". Then download 7 zip to your pc, open 7 zip, find the file and extract it into your addons folder. Then reinstall restedxp, and it will work.

Hmm, cant seem to figure it out,
I have done exactly as you said in this post, there must be something else..
So we have to extract the rxp leveling. rar map that is being downloaded from that link, into the groupfolder AddOn? But that means its a whole different map than what the restedxp map is..
And yes extracting this tru 7zip, select addon folder.. voila?
And yes I have deleted the WTF folders as you said, I have by now tried all steps, in order and in different order, I really think there is something else,
I might try to reinstall wow all together, clean and then do these steps, but i bet i get the same result
