Party Member Skull Status

Can anyone remember a time when they were in a group and one of there group members had the boss skull where their level should have been on their avatar? I know I've seen this with hunters pets but i don't specifically remember if this has happened with actual players.

Party members? I've only encountered this with a) opposing faction 10+ levels higher. b) offline players in LFG that got screwed with my interface.

Unless you're talking about the raid target?

No, it happens every once in a while. For example: You join a group and have members all over Azeroth and one of their avatars displays the "boss skull" this usually only lasts a short while. I'm interested in recreating this for testing possible exploits.

Hmm... were these players offline at the time you were invited? And how long is a 'short while'? Seconds, minutes?

IT usually happens to hunter pets for me until you see them on the screen(IE when their far away they have a skull)

Was this on retail or private server?

this happens mostly when ur lagging, since ALL the player data is loaded when u come within range.

ex. bad party character picture ---> entering instance-----> good character picture

and im pretty sure they character has to be 10 lvls higher r w.e the set limit is

My whole reason for asking this... (and yes i know it's a long shot) is because I was wondering if you were grouped with a party member who's level appeared as a skull (or unknown becasue of serve lag or something) if you could summon them into an instance that they were to low level to get into normally.

It's like Shad0ck said, it happens when you're lagging and also when zoning and such since the server cant send you all the information about the character/pet.

And no you cant summon them.
