Leeching my friend, tell me about it. :P Reputation is just something you can gain from inside jobs, spam mailing people to give you rep if you give them rep in return, e.g. At least it feels like so.. I mean, of all my topics where people like them and reply I rarely get anything.I know, helping people out is completely fine but when reputation decides your rank then it's something else. Like most people they want higher ranks so reputation is like a currency.. they make some good topic, they receive currency from the people that like it, they get ranked up. Unfortunately you don't get any currency for your work anymore, people rarely do such anymore.

If I could throw my 2c in, I'm really not surprised by this sort of behavior from a community made up of Alpha types. Anywhere you find a congregation of highly competitive or highly intelligent people, these kinds of things are bound to happen.
It will blow over, I saw it all the time at Blizzhackers and bmpk.
Yea it is getting ridiculous thats why I think Matt should make it so that 5 rep and up can see links, 10 rep and up can see pics. So it isn't all that easy to get the info without actually posting a few useful threads. It would also be nice to see the ban hammer come out for those pointless threads.
Well, I think they need to at least see links so we can show them what they're reposting.
Side note: This is NOT Jigglypuff
In my opinion that is much too harsh, and missing the point of the original post; "pointless" is such a subjective term that it would more than likely scare members away rather than encourage their contribution. It would also be nice to see the ban hammer come out for those pointless threads.
Your day will come.
So what you're saying then is those threads that advertise buying gold from an illegitimate website, spamming to try to get there rep up, or just not following the forum rules should not be banned? I can understand a warning on a repost of a thread or simple misplace of thread but not if it's not in compliance with the forum rules.
That's not what he was saying. He meant that the word "pointless" has a different meaning for different people. In example, and exploration may be useful to one person, but another may find it a waste of time and effort. Having "pointless" threads be banned may scare some potential posters away, for fear of their post being "pointless." (Sorry for use of quotation marks)
Side note: This is NOT Jigglypuff
I just explained what "pointless" was, right there. exploration has a section and if its showing something that has to do with exploration or a different section then thats fine.
Also if i may add. Not everyone can make 1337 programs and find
out how to get free t6.. There are people that cant program and dont
know any uber exploits.. Yet when they try post their self discovered
little ticks that they are proud of and want to share, people flame them..
I see your point, but I think you're still missing mine; I'm saying, if you're going to ban pointless threads, where do we draw the line? We can't, it's subjective.I just explained what "pointless" was, right there. exploration has a section and if its showing something that has to do with exploration or a different section then thats fine.
Your day will come.
Ok then. Why can't we just create a small list then of things not to post in threads drop it at the top of the forum page and bam there you go you got those guide lines. If it seems like you cannot decide on if its a banable thread then just don't ban and if something close to it happens again then ban. I don't see the problem here, I stated the points and understood your points and took them into consideration as I posted this and the post before about banning.
Your point is understanding the category of pointless thread. Am I right? Thats where the guidelines come in to rule the thread.
People need to rethink the whole "reputation" system.
Rep shouldn't be given only for 1337 exploits and hacks, it should also be
given to those who are attempting to contribute to the community.
This is why I have been finding myself giving more and more rep to Lazy
Leechers and Site Noobs...
Also, regarding the fact that this one thread has had more posts than any
other worthwhile exploit/guide/macro that has been posted recently, is that
people are more likely to comment on something that interests them. I myself
am guilty of reading through threads that someone has put quite a bit of
effort into and simply clicking to another page, if it bores me (although I try
not to do so).
LAwL Diz is c0monn sence n00b!!!
Haha just kidding. Agreed 100%, need to keep the flaming down.
I'm brand new here, and this flaming problem already stands out to me. I came from HS, where I thought flaming was a problem, but there are some big ***** here.
