RE: Ghost Under Water

I want to start off by saying that this is not an exploit, nor a flame to the OP, so please keep reading on.

So many of you may or may not be familiar with the "Ghost Under Water" thread that had been posted a few hours before this one. I'd just like to say that I've been noticing a trend here at MMOwned lately that I do feel is kind of a shame; the fact that the thread, (yes common knowledge) received more comments (flames, really) in a shorter amount of time than most threads that have hit this exploit table.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that this community is turning more into a leech breeding ground; so many people taking the good ideas and exploits without giving credit or rep where it is due, yet all too many people who oblige in flaming, flaming and extra flaming, to the point where it has become superfluous. We don't need 54 consecutive posts telling the OP that 'tis common knowledge or calling him/her a noob.

So please, I'd like to propose the turn of a new leaf. Let's all take our fingers off of the flamethrowing trigger, and instead offer constructive criticism when a poster is mistaken. If you enjoy the post, give credit to the poster, or let them know that you feel they did a good job.

I'm sure we all know what it's like to have had something that we had taken pride in bashed by others, or told was worthless. The golden rule, my good people, remember the golden rule.

I was deeply ashamed of the community in that thread. This is what makes our donations fall, our contributions. Reputation has been given in tighter restrictions, sometimes not at all in an amazing and fantastic post. I've noticed this decrement of the community and it is... insufficient.

I agreed, a week ago or so I posted a way to skip hellfire ramparts trash(see sig) and I got over 1700 views the same day, but like 5 comments and one rep. That post was there for a few hours, got like 500 views and over 50 comments. I don't know what to say heh.

I would like to see the people that think its funny to flame to leave the forum, they have no right here when people are trying to contribute. We are a family here at mmowned, we need to respect everyone here we are not a parasite we do not harm others to our benefit. If someone is contributive please tell them thanks or thats a nice find, because we dont need idiots to over run our forums and make people feel like they are wrost then everyone else

I must admit that this site, has much more aggressive posters than many other similar websites. First time I came across this site was not long ago, maybe 2 or at max 3 months ago. My first impression was a very very aggressive community, which almost made me not want to stick around. And yes I am aware that I myself haven't really been a prime example on a good/motivating poster. I actually gave my first +rep to the OP of the "Ghost under water"-thread only because he had, and continued to tell, some of the funniest/dumbest stuff I've seen in a while.
Anyway, maybe if there was some way to make the forum more "personal", like first of all change the COLORS! second, make it a must to register to read posts. Its much easier to say shit to other people when you're anonymous and unknown. As I probably am at this site.

Edit: Not that I actually should have anything to say or anything... And you probably were looking for other people to respond etc etc. I just felt like telling.

Ah, i remember when i posted one of these "anti-flaming" posts in general section.

I think Relz started to flame me, but a few people agreed.

I myself haven't seen this thread, but from what i've heard, it seems as if this community loves to flame.

But you guys gotta remember, flaming is somewhat necessary, not as agressive as what we've seen, but a simple "This has been posted before - LINK" or "This isn't really much of an exploit"

Being a ghost underwater isn't something that isn't supposed to happen... it's part of the game. How do you think people come to life in CFR... I mean the reason it got so many bad posts is because it is stupid, no matter how you put it.

Im guilty of flaming. But i never went over the top.
I always get mad when i see "Repost, GO KILL YOURSELF!".
I think that is pathetic and completely inappropriate.

If people keep flaming everyone, sooner or later no one will post.

And yes, i completely agree that almost all the good posts
dont even get credit unless its by a admin or a mod.

Also, to all the people who think "This is a repost." is flaming,
its not flaming at all. It becomes flaming when you say things
like "This is a repost you ****ing noob!".

You're missing the point, he was displaying that he felt bad because he got flamed so much, I was trying to bring out some cheer and point out the fact that it wasn't all bad.

I agree in the most. I flame occasionally, but not harsh, aggressive flaming, but just, "Sorry man, this is a repost, 'LINK'" and also, please, don't just say "Thanks man =)" and not give people rep. If you are thanking them, that means you like the post, yet you don't donate 2 seconds of your time to rep them? It doesn't make sense to me.

Nice topic, I notice that myself though it's the administration of this forum that needs
to decide if flaming should be bannable or not. Personally I wouldn't mind giving a warning
or two if I saw someone flaming a guy that made a repost, even if a repost you should
still be able to say it nicely that this is a repost instead being a jerk.

You know, if you wanna make a serious thread use the contribution forum, the people there
will usually hear you out and not flame you like some nabs do. ;>
