Rest Container loot on Canopic Jars for Vial of the Sands recipe!!! POTENTIALLY HUGE

Alright, I searched everywhere and all I could find were posts of people inquiring if this was possible. So, I don't know the extent of how far this can go, but I have learned that a Canopic Jar's loot can be reset, thus giving you multiple chances on the Vial of the Sands recipe. It is possible this works with other loot containers but I cannot confirm this.

I want to say that I was inspired to do this from the very old Landro's Loot trick that blizz fixed. However I was self-convinced that blizz never really fixed the issue as a whole, and only addressed that one item.

Basically the way this loot trick works is that whenever there is a major patch reset, if you have containers in your bank or your bags, it actually resets the loot table of those containers, thus if rares drop in those containers, you basically don't loot them completely, or you leave an item inside them, wait for a major content patch (like 5.1, 5.2 etc..), and then re-check them.

So, I've been collecting Canopic Jars for quite some time on my Alchemist, so I can get the Vial of the Sands recipe. So, rather than AUTO-LOOT the mummified remains, I shift-clicked them, looked and saw no recipe, then threw the canopic jar into my bank. I started doing this in patch 5.0 -- 5.1 rolled around and I checked my 10 collected jars and still nothing. Still, I was convinced it was just bad RNG luck. 5.2 rolled around and I completely forgot to re-check this alch alt of mine.

So, today I logged over, went into my bank and sure enough, my 2nd jar I re-checked I got the recipe, thus confirming that the loot tables of the container were reset.

I don't really have a way to prove this, but I thought I should get the word out to you guys since 5.3 is around the corner, and with the recent Tol'Vir archaeology exploit posted a few days ago to get an unlimited number of Tol'Vir dig sites (Archaeology: Infinite Tol'vir Digsites)HERE: I wanted to give you the heads up to hold on to your canopic jars and if you have bad luck now, you'll have a whole new shot next patch.

Remember, you MUST be an alchemist to even have a chance at Vial of the Sands recipe dropping.

Potential Other Loot bags?
Bonus bag tanks/healers can sometimes get in dungeons
LFR loot bags now supposed to have chance of bonus items

This is true, but I don't think I'd complain about this thread since Blizzard publicly claimed that this exploit was fixed. They fixed it so that people couldn't stock up on the daily holiday boss loot bags to try for mounts and BoE weapons.

I have said this probably a billion times, but I think mods should consider making this a RULE. Requesting that SOMEONE ELSE'S thread be moved to elite should not be happening. It is at the discretion of the OP to decide whether to post their self-found exploit(s) in Exploits or Elite Exploits. It costs FIVE DOLLARS A MONTH to get into Elite and Blizzard brings in just under 100 million dollars a month in profits. Do you believe they aren't reading the Elite sections? So ridiculous... Also, from a personal standpoint, I have to ask if you really believe the ability to reset the contents of certain types of loot bags MONTHS into the future for another miniscule chance at getting a pet or recipe is THAT huge... I love the OC community and always have, but I gotta say that after being here a few years, nothing typically annoys me more than "move to elite pls!!" posts. This forum is a place for a community to share and inspire each other with their findings and ideas and promoting exclusivity and elitism is not alawys healthy for a community where learning is often done through repetition and inspiration built off of each other's ideas.

You are wrong it is know that Blizz reads stuff like this... If the dont know how exploit is made ( step=by=step ) then they dont know what to fix and how.

That being said, elite discussions require 325 rep, legendary discussions is 600 rep... the elite exploits/elite guides etc can be reached by donating, the others can't

The reason it is potentially huge is because there are several loot containers in this game that contain things like rare mounts, pets and so on and to basically collect these containers for months at a time and get a reset is massive. This post is about the vial of the sands, but the overall implications are huge. Of course, this is not necessarily a new concept, it was just widely believed to have been fixed by blizzard years ago, because blizzard said they fixed, and as a result people probably haven't tried stockpiling certain containers. Fortunately, we now learn that in this case blizz did not fix it which brings into the question, "what other containers can this potentially still work on?"

Anyway, in regards to other people's "Move to Elite." Let me just say that principally I like getting the info to as many people as possible in something like this. I don't think that moving to elite will actually lessen a chance of blizz finding it and lowering chances of being fixed (considering it's just a small monthly fee to get in there).

However, there are some things that maybe you just don't want the people in mass numbers to know. Sometimes there are things that if they go too mainstream they could ruin your economic chances to exploit it on your own server. Thus, in a case like that, sure, I may post it in a more limited ELITE 325 rep required section. But I find things like that more rare... and very situational. Vast amount of stuff I will always post in general elite.

They only added "requires xxxxx event" to the bags that they will disappear after event is over.
Gonna test this with few lockboxes in 5.3, sounds weird that a patch would reset the container but will see soooooonish.
