Setting up an Empty Custom Private Server

Hello.

I joined this community in 2007 but have now decided to make a new Profile.

It have been a very long time since I last tryed setting up a Private server and would like some advice on what I will be needing for my project.

I wish to set up a empty server with nothing else then water or land. I would need somekind of editor to create the islands, hills and land in general that I will be needing.

My project is to make a WoW server that let you play through the lore and story behind Warcraft 3, Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne. I dislike how WoW completely ignore the lore and believe it to be fun, to try and integrate the Warcraft 3 Singe Player story into a Private server.

What programs would I need for such a project (The landscape Editor, Something to write new quests with)? And what Emu does well with an empty server.

Any advice or links to guide would be most helpful.

Well there are many guides out there but I'll try to help you a bit here.

It seems like you're not trying to make a Blizzlike server so you should stick to ArcEmu.

To edit the world, textures etc I'd say to go with "Noggit". I used it aswell and it didn't take me a long time to make my first own area.

To make custom NPCs/Mobs/Items there is a site called wow-v.com

Anyway don't expect to see a full guide about everything posted here but look around for guides on this site. I'm pretty sure after few weeks (or days) you'll be able to create your very own server with custom scripts,quests, mobs and everything.

I think what you want is a server with no spawned mobs and possibly no spawned items. To do this, when installing a database like WhyDB, I guess you could go to the creature_names, creature_proto and quests and delete everything in them. That would remove all NPCs. You can do that to the items table and possibly the objects table if you're feeling brave.

Choose a table that contains data you want to get rid of (e.g: creature_spawns) then run this query altered to your liking:

DELETE FROM `creature_spawns`;
^
Will delete everything in there, or you can get rid of only certain things e.g:

DELETE FROM `creature_spawns` WHERE `entry` < '50';

About "Noggit". I have been reading and it seems like it's no longer in devlopment. The current and last version I found only worked for some of the older WoW patches. Am I looking the wrong place or did someone continue the work on "Noggit"?
