Ok problem...i opened the router ports(i am never 100% sure if they are really open but i followed the guide (in another site)to open them step by step)then i configured the host file and then i changed all the ips(in the server files)to my dns.And my friends still gets the messege Unable to connect.(oh i've disabled windows firewall as well).Some help plx?

Ok for anyone that hasn't figured this part out yet:

When you have to go to this folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

to edit the Hosts file.

And it keeps wanting you to save the file in text form, just right click on Hosts, click properties, and then the box next to Read-only. Make sure there is no check,X, whatever int he white box.


Now you can edit the file and save it without having it ask you to save a text file.

After adding your information to the Hosts file, right click, click properties and recheck the read-only box so that it is read only again.

I've done everything in this guide, followed a couple others, disabled my firewall and forwarded all the ports in my route and firewall and my friend still cant connect any help :confused:

I finally got it in what i did is go into navicat and opened up the user table and then i changed host from "localhost" to my DynDns name help it helps some of you

you cant change it in Cmd you have to copy it then paste it into your web browser and then you change it

I don't understand why everyone is having such a hard time with this. This tutorial lays it out perfectly! I followed each step, didn't try to take any shortcuts, and got my server up and running in only a few minutes! This is a great tutorial! Thanks a million!

I had a EMU server where I got same problem...its NOT hard to fix...

192.168.1.101 <- Your Computer IP...that is the wrong part...you are going to get the router IP (indeed I did and it worked for me)
