I owe you a plate of cookies or something. I don't know what I did differently, but I started from scratch, incorporating the fresh suggestions as I went, and it is working perfectly now. Thank you so much for all of your help!!!

The spell.dbc error with me came from my dbc extraction going badly, you may want to try a different extraction tool.

I was having the realmlist problem as well, and I believe the step that finally worked for me was...

Go to the configuration manager again in VC++ 2010 and unselect to build luabridge, and select to build LuaEngine, recompile, overwrite the stuff in your compiled folder or create a new folder, you can move the maps, vmaps and dbcs from your existing compiled folder

God, I'm about to give up. Now I've started from scratch 4 times :s
First I tried following everything but I got that error someone mentioned earlier (xc00007b). I quickly learned that this was because I'm on a 64bit OS.

There are solutions for that though. All I had to do was to get VC++ ultimate since it can do it's thing in 64bit. I ofc copied the stuff from 64 instead while following ur guide.

Now I just have one more problem. Whenever I open up the arcemu-logonserver it comes up real quick and closes. When I look in the log file it writes this:
    [13:16][Arcemu][2011-03-08 13:16:49]
    [13:16][Arcemu]ArcEmu TRUNK r4061/Release-Win32 (X64) :: Logon Server
    [13:16][Arcemu]Bind unsuccessful on port 8093.
    [13:16][Arcemu]Error creating sockets. Shutting down...

I don't get it at all.. I have followed ur guide completely. I hope you can help me

This is by far the best guide I've used, thanks man

It isn't mentioned in the guide, but I did it without thinking I guess. Did you open the port on your firewall?

I actually don't know how to open a port :s Don't get me wrong, I'm not bad with computers, I've just never done it hehe.
I just tried googling how to do it, but I can't seem to find it.

I'm on win7 64bit with norton 2011 controlling my firewall. Any advice?

I'm not sure about Norton, sorry. If you check around on Norton's website and forums there should be some information there.

amazing guide btw , but when it gets to the 'mysql-essential-5.1.54-win32.mis' the link doesn't have the download, after going to google and getting the download done and ready. I install it and when it comes to configuring, i click next when it comes to 'Install as Window service' i click next and it says: "A Windows service with that name MySQL already exists, please uninstall correctly or choose a different name"

If i choose a different name it and execute it it ticks Prepare configuration and Write configuration file but then fails to start the service, any advice?

Please forgive me if I have missed it, but has there been any success on working around the invalid file format (us: x, them: y) issue? That is the point where I am stuck at the moment

Edit: I was able to use a dbc folder from a repack and it seemed to solve the issue, now have a bit of fun. Thanks for the excellent guide!

    Hey,
I'm not sure if I'm just dumb or what, but I followed your guide to the letter and there is no collision.dll to be found anywhere... I used https://arcemu.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/arcemu/trunk to download the latest version of the core, and even using my browser to look on the site itself, I can't find the collision.dll... Did I miss something??

Love the guide though, it's laid out perfectly and is a huge help, I just can't seem to get past this collision issue?

    Thanks so much!

    """"
Finally, go to **YOUR SVN FOLDER**/extras/arcemu-windows-libraries/DLL Files (DLL Files x64 if you are on a 64bit OS) and copy the 2 .dlls into your compiled folder.
    """"

Got here, sure enough, no .dll files in there... my heart broke.. haha

I'm having the same problem. Currently core revision 4121. The x64 dll folder has nothing in it (32 bit dll folder is empty as well) and when compiling in 64 bit it seems to skip compiling the collision dll. Now, to fix the missing dll issue in the x64 folder (granted you installed the 64 bit version of mysql), you can pull the libmysql.dll from the lib folder in your mysql directory. As far as the libeay32.dll, have no idea where to get that. All you should really need anyway is the libmysql.dll. The rest should already be on your machine if you have visual studio installed. As for the collision.dll, well, guess without that you just wont have line of sight in game. Also, there is a vmap extractor in the source folder already. Just look under extras and find vmap_extract_assembler_bin then run the makevmaps_SIMPLE batch. Not sure if it works or not. I pulled the maps, dbcs, and vmaps from my mangos compile. There's actually a project file for the map extractor but for some reason it fails every time I try to compile it.

This is my first time working with arcemu in a couple of years. Now I remember why I switched to MaNGOS/Trinity back in the day lol.
