need help connecting to friends DB

ok im using heidiSQL and i just got admin on server...so the owner is trying to let me access it and he doesnt know how to give me public access....so can anybody help i will +Rep

lol im having the same problem.

Tell him to go config mysql to allow external connections.

Start > Programs > Mysql > config >

Go through it and read where it says allow external ips to connect, or what ever it says, sorry I don't have it installed.

Make sure that port is also forwarded if you'll be connecting to it.

ok guys when installing mysql make sure that you enable remotecontrol then when you set up heidisql set the ip to your friends and leave everything esle at normal

Go into Heidisql and to user editor. He can there make you a username/pw and set your permissions.

After that, you will log in with host as his DNS (or IP), and username/pw of what he made you.
