A relatively small fraction of all affected people (mainly PvPers who were abusing auto interrupt) was actually perma banned. Consider 72h bans a warning.

Well, lets face it this way: banned people PROBABLY buy another copy + extra game time which means in turn, at least for a small number of player have been charged for their playstyle IF they decide to continue playing the game... for those who only got 72h -> not important at all but still, another wrong step... and we have considerable new customers/buyers... or a total subscription loss. It seems like bli$$ is winning at this end. It is just a matter of will I continue the game after being banned or not.

This explanation, of course, has nothing to do why this 500k number that is floating around this forum.

Well considering aprox 500,000 people's account were affected by the ban wave, my guess is they have something to track PQR/I now... lol idiot

People who joined in the last month with sub 10 comments shouldnt really be allowed to post in this thread.

Most likely the program wasn't detected. All the profiles use chat, that's the problem. All they have to do is scan chat for people saying things like "cooldowns enabled" and "profile active" and flag them. Not sure why people thought it would be a good idea having the profiles say that shit. Nobody is ever going to say those words naturally.

Thats not even close to what happened. You can open the files and turn that off. I had modified all profiles I ever used to never write anything to the chat because i was paranoid blizz could see it and i never used any auto interrupt and I was perma banned.

Yes... but I never used pqr in arena I used PQR for fury pve a couple times because I can never do more dmg than my arms pve spec when i play fury myself. As arms i can get very good dmg out myself but arms is the lowest pve dmg dealer. I did arena on my druid as resto with no pqr ever to help my friend get conq capped, I was not serious about it cuz i hate pvp but I had 1800 rating. I edited the profiles to not display anything in chat and i never used auto interrupt for both pvp and pve. I had only used pqr 3 times on a dummy as fury. When I was banned a friend that is good at fury was actually teaching me how to play fury and we were waking the target dummies, was trying to figure out why he can do 1mil burst and I could only do 600k.

My huge concern is that many profiles used PQI, and PQI used CHAT_MSG_ADDON as a version check...

Which means addon messages were communicated to the server, and sent to any listening clients on that addon channel. This is a HUGELY BAD IDEA, as it is essentially advertising to the WoW servers "I AM RUNNING THIS ADDON!" Blizzard logs everything they receive, and it is just a matter of them searching the logs for people advertising their version number on the channel.

This is why I want to know if anyone was banned without ever having PQI installed.

Hello Xelper, i think you are correct in your theory. I have never been banned before and used PQR and HB religiously, mostly for PVE and somethines for farming. Less than 7hrs of farming. Then i tried PE and installed a paladin rotation that required PQI addon which i installed. I was then banned, for the first time ever, during the banwave.

The PQI theory is not all there is to it, i had my own edited PQI addon, Changed name and the update message along with some other useless stuff was removed.
So if they did detect PQI then its not the only thing they did.

I have two accounts, one I used with PQI (got banned), my other account was Coxk warrior which didn't need PQI (so I never had it enabled).

needless to say, my first account is banned, and my coxk account is still running just fine. No ban on it, and I'll continue to enjoy the game with PQR/COXK profile.
