It only evolves pokemon on start up and not during the run, is there a way to make it evolve pokemon during the run?

because I keep having all this pidgey, ratata and weedle candies but i rather it use them to evolve them once their caught for more XP.

the option to save pokemon based on %age of max CP is great, but seems a little buggy. like my trainer is rank 27, but it just caught a zubat who was 86% max CP for level FIVE (and so it didn't transfer it), not 27. Am I missing something or why would I care what the % of max for a different level is? I thought my current level is the current level for my pokemon anyway (which is why you can have a filled up CP bar that isn't filled up after your trainer levels).
