Myself, I would prefer an Ibanez, or a used Fender.

I've been associated with music most of my life. And this is what helped me,
Anytime you spend on WoW, Watching T.V., doing nothing is time you could be getting better.
As far as equipment, you'll be fine starting off with some sort of generics, whether it be First Act from walmart, or Squire, amp doesn't need to be real big, progress slow. As far learning everything, I started with scales, learn alot of scales, than chords or vice-versa, its all pending on your play style, you have 2 different categories.
Scale type songs, I.E. Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb of God, Nevermore, etc.
Chord type Songs, I.E. AC/DC, Metallica, Children of Bodom (somewhat).
But, to more depth, you have, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Metal, Funk, Hip-hop, etc. One of the best in my opinion is Blues, everything you hear came from either blues or jazz at some point. Some videos/songs you should listen to are Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughn, Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi, they are really good songs and have very nice guitar work, but you also have a TON of choices, so the choice is yours, remember, keep your head up and in time you will overcome everything. As we speak, I just learned how to sweep on my guitar, an example of sweeping is the beginning solo of Psalms of Lydia - Nevermore. But I started looking at the Bass guitar and it looks so promising, 4 strings, endless possibilities. Some awesome Bass players to check out are, Victor Wooten, Cliff Burton, Flea, Les Claypool, Geddy Lee, etc. But thats my two cents, hopefully I can help, if you have anymore questions send me a PM and I'll be sure to try an answer them![]()
Destinations unknown, I'll find my way there
Bass > guitar
L2pick instruments
but in all honesty if u wanna go guitar pick up a gibson or an epiphone
bassists should pick up fenders (unless ur like me who despretly wants a gibson thunderbird bass)
Meh, why spend 500-1200 dollars on something your not sure you want to progress in? Plus if you want that "twang" guitar, go with a fender stratocaster, if you want an all around sounding guitar, go with Gibson Les Paul Studio, 1,299 US Dollars (BE SURE THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT), picked mine up in Guitar Center for about 1,100. And For bass, its up to the bassist, I have a thing for Ibanez Basses

i just bought an electric guitar with all da shit, and an acoustic guitar today.
in 2 weeks im gonna have go to practice wit my friend
I started playing accoustic a month ago :P Just bought some sucky guitar from the local shop and I'm practicing on tabs
I can feel that I'm hitting a brickwall though so I think I'm going to start on scales soon
I play the Bass myself, I rock a Fender Squire. i've played for a few years, but I really want to relearn to play normal guitar. I used to play it when I was like 8, and now I remember nothing about it.
Alcoholism is a disease but it's the only the disease you can get yelled at for having. Damnit Otto you're an alcoholic. Damnit Otto you have lupus. One of these doesn't sound right.

I play a Epiphone Les Paul on Fender FM212R , sounds great![]()
Great way to learn the guitar is to go to a music shop and buy a poster that has guitar chords (in tabs if you're new to music) and just put it on your wall and learn them all. Names, fingering positions, etc. Know them forwards and backwards.
I try to. I learn from tabs and luckily my bf plays pretty good,so he teaches me some songs. I have been playing on and off for a couple of years. I never really commit to it. I want to though. Theres a good program called proguitar I believe. It helps with learning songs and the sort. You should check it out.
