I tried this last night and had good results:
1) Close the APB bot that is causing problems.
2) Login to the Gateway with a regular browser (I used Firefox)
3) Click the character you want to use for the bot
4) Click Professions
5) From the main window with your task slots, press "CTRL+F5" to force Firefox to do a full, no-cache refresh
6) Logout from the gateway in that Firefox browser
7) close Firefox

Open APB and try again
It probably doesn't have anything to do with me "fixing" anything, and it probably won't work for anyone else, but it sure worked for me last night, quickly and easily.
