When auto-Legendary kicks in to guarantee your drops, don't pick them up...

Leave the legendary items on the ground, don't pick them up.

I don't know if this is just a coincidence or not, but I think the game only counts your guaranteed Legendary/Set drops after a few hours of play with no items IF you pick the item up. I have been testing this out by leaving the Legendaries on the ground if its been a while since I haven't gotten any, and I seem to be getting a ton more immediately after if I never pick them up.

I know many people will play and get nothing, and then all the sudden they may get two or something at the same time.

Can anyone else test this to see if this is correct and not just some lucky RNG that I'm having here?

Note it only seems to work when you are in the "guaranteed" Legendary mode after not getting any for hours. Either I am having really good luck here, or I may have found something....

From a coding perspective your theory wouldnt make much sense, but I'm sure to try it out and report back my findings.

From a coding perspective, Blizzard may have coded it so that in case you miss the item while your party is off in another area and don't pick it up, it doesn't count. The star on the map only shows if the item actually dropped from loot. You can pick up an item and drop it again, and it won't show on the map. Again, from a coding perspective, perhaps they used that same code that determines whether or not to show the icon on map for whether or not to reset the guaranteed Legendary timer (on the server side, of course). This is just a counter to your argument about how from a "coding perspective", it wouldn't make any sense.

This is Blizzard we are talking about. The same people who dropped the ball in D3 so many times. Like letting people cancel auctions back in the day by simply changing the clock on your computer. Or sending the data for Legendary items to the client before the items were IDed allowing people to figure out what items were and then scam others selling "unidentified" legendary items.

Again, this was just a few runs of testing for me and its actually pretty difficult to know when you are in the "guaranteed" legendary drop mode versus a standard legendary drop due to the standard drop rate. It just was a really strange coincidence that I tried this out multiple times and I kept getting more and more legendary drops if I didn't pick them up.

Loot Drops In Groups Might Be Bugged - Forums - Diablo III

Link to a blue post that specifically contradicts on this. If item drop, the timer resets, even if your not in the zone or pick it up.

Usual 2 drop in a row in a window of 15 min after the "timer kicked in" then nothing more, ill keep testing.

Luckily on the floor waiting for me there are only a hammer jammer and a shitty shoulder :P

    I found something else.

Same game of where they dropped:

4th floor of a rift and 2nd floor of scanveger den

Both legendary have disapperead (time window is 1h more or less) after they have dropped and i left them on the ground.

Im 100% sure of the location. I can still see yellows blue and white i left on the ground.

So, i dont know if is a new thing but legendary disappear after some time if you dont get them and leave them on the ground

I'll argue that Blues have been MORE THAN ONCE caught blatantly lying, or being completely clueless about game's mechanics.

Between what they say, what the developpers says and what's in the code, the only thing I trust is what I observe IG.

I'll try this theory of no loot without any hesitation and make my conclusion regardless of what any Blue said.

I don't really think that it has anything to do with picking it up or not.
I had the timer set in a rift after a long time of nothing and i got 3 legendaries in 10 min (+1 from kadala). I picked all of them up immediatly

Well, there must be some way to collect more legendaries somehow this way.

Look at this guy: Leg RNG - Forums - Diablo III

He tells us there are 2 Timers. Watch his screenshots.

Depending on his Battle.net account (TealDawn#1499) he has his character list full of mages, he even has all his followers full equipped with everything they could ever need.

We should just find a way to exploit these 2 Timers, I'll test not picking up the legendaries too.

I think this guy must exploiting the Bloodshards somehow. His Inventory is full of Wizard off-hands.
Did anyone try to get the "auto-Legendary" drop, without it actually droping a legendary? By that i mean to stay in a fight for like 1.5 hours without killing something. So your next drop is a Legendary. Then just spam bloodshards like crazy. So the itmes you get are all "auto-Legendary".
Just an idea someone might try.
