Good afternoon guys! You'll have to forgive me if this has been posted else where- I've looked around for a straight forward answer and haven't been able to locate one yet.
I've been model editing for a while now, so I know how everything generally works. The way I would have normally done a texture edit was to do the following:
-Extract Blp file I wanted to edit from the MPQ archive (I have Ladik's MPQ editor to do this)
-Convert the Blp file into a PNG using a little java application I found a long time ago (still seems to work great as far as I can tell). Edit, convert back to Blp.
-Use My Warcraft Studio to create a new MPQ file named patch-x.MPQ using the correct directory structure (ie. character\Tauren\Female\Editedfile.blp and plop that into the Data folder under the WoW directory.
Does this method no longer work, or could I possibly have messed up the internal MPQ directory structure?
I'm trying to do some female worgen edits for me and my friend, but thus far, I've been unsuccessful. Someone had mentioned something about creating a folder in the WoW Data folder with the name of the MPQ (patch-x.MPQ) and putting the MPQ in there. This doesn't make sense to me, and I don't understand how or why this would work. I did however try it, and as i thought, did not work. I then tried putting the loose BLP files into that folder using the correct directory structure (base\Character\Female\Worgen\), and had the same result. After that I finally tried cleaning out the cache files in case they were preventing me from seeing changes, and tried the old method again of simply putting the MPQ file in the Data folder- no go.
According to Ladik's MPQ editor, the files for female worgen should be located at base\Character\Worgen\Female. When I load the MPQs in WoWModel viewer however, it is pulling up the old female worgen model, and I am trying to figure out what in the world is going on. I tried open the expansion3.MPQ file but Ladik's claims it was corrupted- I forced it opened once, and it looked like just a bunch of random files, so I don't think the answer I'm looking for is in there.
If anyone can help me out, and/or point me in the direction of newer/correct tools, I would very much appreciate it. I love my female worgen, but I very much loathe her face- as I know a lot of the female gamer populace does as well. Once I get this working, I will be doing edits for all of the faces and posting them here, so I really want to get this to work so I can be a contributing member of mmowned once more.
Thanks very much, sorry for the wall of text, and have a great day!

Update: I tried the method located here,

But it did not work either.
