A better way of saying that is that they use different textures. The models are the same, yeah.

Any reason why half the gear i'm wearing or my mates are wearing can't be found in the maasive string of hex values? Pretty annoying to do my entire equip into pally tier 5 only to find the shoulders can't be done becuase "sting is not found".

Everything you are wearing will be found, dont forget if you already searched something that you need to change the search setting to up and down to search the entire string Just changing cause I had the same, if you are wearing the items they will for sure be in there Everything youve seen ingame is in there. Things you havent seen ingame arent.
