Yes it does, thats why I explained why I choose my ring and cloak. That however doesnt change the fact that (in my opinion) 850 resilience is too much :-).

True. It might be a hunch to much.

But it changes from playstyle to playstyle.

That is true and don't worry too much, the guide is for people to learn off you cannot develop someone their own play style in the end it's up to them and what suits their team the most. Your guide gave me insight on things I didn't even know maybe I can beat a pesky hunter in a duel now!

I absolutely disagree with the mage part.

A good mage won't try to get range or polymorph you. He's just going to hug you, snare you, DPS you and repeat. And when you disengage, he's immediately going to blink and snare you again. Your weak melee attacks and your weak pet attacks aren't going to do shit even to his shield. And if he ever gets low on health, snare + evocation (glyphed, which is a must for any mage), zing he got 60% of his health and mana back. And then he'll just continue.

If he's an arcane mage, you're doomed. If he's a frost mage, you're still doomed, but you won't die as fast. If he's a fire mage, you have little chance.

That is, if you aren't BM. If your pet can pull off big numbers, then the mage will probably die if he hugs you. If he doesn't, he's in your burst range.

And once you get him to pop ice block, just wait for him to blink and immediately disengage before he snares you. Now, he's dead meat.

If a mage doesn't hug you, he's exactly in your burst range and he's going down.

Sort of agree, a good hunter can stop them getting them on top of you. BM hunters with bestial wraith are immune to snares so they stand a fair chance against mages.

If you find Frost Mages or Fire mages hard as a hunter.

Then I'm sorry to say. You have failed miserably as a hunter. No frost mage can beat my hunter. Elemental spec'd mages might have a chance. But frost mages is like doing deadmines all over again.
It's different tactics to use. This is just ONE tactic. He MIGHT try to sheep you. Or Not.. And I never said he wouldn't try to hug you. Cause he will, and also. If you cant manage to stay away from a frost mage as a MM Hunter. You have failed.. AGAIN

    Hmm, let's see...

You get slowed, you get snared, when you disengange the mage blinks and gets to you again, you can't fire a SINGLE shot while he hugs you. You can only slow him down with a Wing Clip or a Trap, but he still slows you for more. If you freeze him in place, he can trinket it and continue.

Honestly, what kind of mages have you played against? If you'll get Deep Freezed, trinket it, you'll get Deep Freezed again and this time it's going to be with Elemental. The mage will stand next to you and nuke you, and when Deep Freeze is over - immediate Freeze from elemental so you can't fire. If you Disengage he'll just Blink again.

Tbh I don't trust you. I've played both classes and I very rarely beat mages with a hunter. And as a mage, I beat hunters easily.

Anyways, let's not spoil this good thread.

Damn, was > < that close to being amazed with the guide, how it looks in general, but than i saw its Template from JM, still VERY impressive looks but credits go to JM.
On the other hand the context of the guide is very well writen, so good job on that. Im sure everyone can find some that doesn't work for them directly or that it sounds wrong to them, but overall you got allot of points right.

As a hunter who has been playing a hunter for over 5 years, I can say this is a very well written guide for the *BASICS* -- with some advanced technique thinking. Very thought out, and very clean and very well put together. Definitely deserving of an award for the high quality.

With that being said, since there is some talk about the Hunter Vs Mage... I agree that your write-up works against mediocre mages. But, the reality is, coming from a current 2.1k+ 2v2 player and 2400+ 3's and 5v5s hunter player, that when dueling any good mage they will just make sure they are humping you the whole fight. Since 90% of all hunters are MM it is easy for mages to win. I have a very difficult time dueling them... unless of course I switch to BM then it is so easy it's a joke... In those cases mages usually just pop mirrors and try to run away from you til your Bestial wrath runs out or they know they will lose lol There is a gladiator mage I know who I just cannot beat who will for fun throw on his S4 lvl 70 Brutal gear and still beat lvl 80s in full Wrathful. A great mage should always beat a hunter in a duel

Again guys, this guy DID say it was the basics, and if you are a hunter really trying to get some experience in PVP this is a fantastic read. From a person that is a 200HK Twice Glad(S1 and S5) one must always remember that strats are always being adapted and countered and you must always change your strats too. So, nothing is ever set in stone. But, the basic idea that the OP is giving here is very clean and well said. So, +rep from me!
