So I finally got tired of seeing idiot paladins doing 1500 dps when they should be doing at least 2k in the gear they have. Here is just a short little explaination for Ret paladins out there wanting to get more from their toon. Hopefully this helps someone:
1. Spec
If you want to do top end dps, spec for top end dps. This means no holy, no imp HoJ, etc.. PVP spec = Fail for dps. You want to be 0-5-66 for sure.
2. Seals
If you are using Seal of Command to DPS, you are doing it wrong. Simply by changing to Seal of Blood you will increase your dps.
3. Judgements
It is extremely important to keep judgement of wisdom up on the target/boss. If you go OOM, it is probably your own fault. Discuss what other paladins are judging in the group to make sure this is happening.
4. Glyphs
Minor: Sense undead is the only one that "technically" helps your dps
Major: Get Judgement, Consecrate (longer duration means less mana used), and Seal of Blood
5. Rotation
Here is the important part, the rotation. If you are a paladin then you have noticed our dps is reliant on more than one spell. You MUST hit your cooldowns and know which spells to use first when multiple come up at the same time.
To start go JUDGE>DS>CS>CONS. This is the order you will always use when all spells are off CD.
Consecrate must be up all the time as it adds about 300dps to your 10 man dps.
This order should for the most part keep your CDs seperate, once in a while CS and Judgement will come up at the same time. In that event use CS first and your timing will be back how it should be.
On top of that use Avenging Wrath/trinkets as often as possible, just make sure it is availible for heroism/bloodlust time.
Divine Plea should be used when you get to about 75% mana, though mana probably will not be a problem.
So thats it, I can safely promise that if you do the above suggestions you WILL see a dps improvement without making a single change to your gear. Hope this helps someone.
