In this post I outline some of the fun things that stealthers (rogues, druids) can do with speedhacks. One of my reasons for writing is to inform stealthers who currently does not use speedhacks about how much fun they're missing out on. Before I get to the fun stuff, however, let me offer some preliminary remarks for 'noobz'.
Q: What is a speedhack?
A: As the name implies, a speedhack is a program that increased your character's movement speed.
Q: Can one be banned for using a speedhack?
A: Yes, *if you're caught*. The primary way speedhackers get caught, however, is via player reports. So, if you're not too blatant about your hacking, you're probably relatively safe.
Q: What speedhack should I use?
A: There are a number of free speedhacks on offer (search the Hack forums). But currently I use ICanHazSpeed.
Q: Can stealthers have more fun with speedhacks?
A: Yes, because (if they're lev 80), they cannot be seen while in stealth except at very close range.
With this in mind, let me outline some fun that stealthers can have with speedhacks.
(1) Fast, safe travel. Unlike non-stealth classes that run a serious risk of being seen by traveling fast across the map, stealthers can simply stealth-up, crank up the speed on their favorite speedhack, then blaze all over the map. I have confirmed that even players of the same faction cannot see you (if you're lev 80) unless you're in very close range. Thus, there is no risk of being seen (unless you do something stupid and accidentally lose your stealth). Thus, you can travel the map at speeds far exceeding epic flyer speed.
(2) In light of (1), you don't need to drop 6,000 gold on an epic flyer and training. Spend that on some gear instead!
(3) In light of (1), rogues can pick pockets much faster than normal. It might not be the best use of your time in terms of gold farming, but it is a fast way to collect Runic Healing Potions and food in a very short amount of time (if you find a nice long string of NPCs with pockets to pick). Also, in light of this, you can collect tons of junkboxes in a hurrry. For those who need to level their LP skill, this can be very helpful.
(4) You can quickly, easily, and safely complete quests that only require you to pickup items. E.g., there is a questgiver just inside Utgarde Pinnacle that offers the quest Junk in My Trunk. It simply requires you to run into the instance and pickup some items laying on the ground throughout the instance. Many of the items are far enough away from NPCs such that you can pick up all the items and complete the quest without ever engaging in combat. But even if you accidentally get into combat, you can run hella fast outta there. I was able to quickly complete the quest and get the nice Exotic Leather Tunic as a result (not to mention the 26g that came with it).
(5) I'm assuming there are some nice chests that a solo stealther can get to without combat, but I'm not sure what they are at the moment. (Please post if you know of any.)
(6) You can have tons of fun solo ganking. Here are some tips. Visit towns and bases of the opposing faction. If the guards are elite or there are many enemy players around, wait for an enemy player to leave the base, then stalk them in stealth with your speedhack on. That way they won't know you're following them. But once they dismount, you can unload on them. If you're a rogue, it is more viable to gank even with elite guards around, since you can vanish, etc. I've ganked countless of the opposing faction in their own towns, cities, bases, etc. But even if you're a druid, and you're not as concerned about player reports, you can leave your speed really high, thus allowing you to leave town in a hurry, avoiding elite guards and other players. But if you do that more than once in short period of time, you're probably running a serious risk of player reports.
(7) Sapathon. Rogues can quckly stealth through a town, sapping all kinds of enemy players. This can be quite fun. And if you have your speed set high, you can just jam out of there even if you get into trouble.
(Annoyathon. You can also zoom through an enemy town doing /train and other such things to taunt and annoy the snot out of your enemies. I recommend this in conjunction with (7).
(9) If you care about achievements, you can quickly explore regions without being seen (unlike non-stealth classes).
Conclusion: Speedhacks are a LOT of fun. These are some ways taht stealthers in particular can take advantage of them. If you having additional ideas as to how to have fun with speedhacks, please post.
