Real guide to lowering your Ping

After seeing one person post some memory modifying method to lowering ping I figured I would post the one that I know to work.

Before I continue - I certainly hope this isnt a repost as I searched lower ping and didnt see anything.

First - Download and install Fasterping - Faster Ping | World of Warcraft Tools | Curse

Its clean - no malware hidden.

After the install - obviously run it.

Set the TcpAckFrequency to 1 -check the yes bubble <- any questions - refer to the picture below.
Turn off Nagle's algorithm - check the yes bubble

Click apply changes (if you are running vista you will need to follow their directions on what to do before you apply changes. I run xp on this computer so I don't know whats added)



Restart your computer and check out your ping. Mine dropped on the Sargeras server from 164 to 84. Noticeable differences in my rogues abilities ensued - from more precise kicks to faster shadowsteps.

Searching for "TcpAckFrequency" will grant you with quite a few similar posts, although giving a guide for Vista instead would be great, as many of my friends have trouble installing the hotfix.

EDIT: Works very well went from about 150ms to about 50 ms

I've been using this for a couple of months now and it works great! Above all expectations, went from 120 ms to a constant 12 ms.

However, I don't want to rep this post, due to the fact that this has been posted a numerous times before.

Ah I didnt try searching for that.

However - dont worry about the rep. I did my part to get out of leecher status which is fine by my part. I just saw a ping guide that was tough to understand and figured this is an easy fix that if people didnt know how to do it.
