The C.O.D. Scam

I'm sure your all aware of the C.O.D Scam, as it is older than the Internet itself. But for those of you that are new to the scamming scene, I'll lay it out for you.

What you will need:

1. A level 1 alt
2. One or two Frozen Orbs.
3. Social Engineering Skills
4. An Alt Scamming Account
5. TOR IP Hider, or some other IP Hider.
6. Some balls

What to do:

Get on your main, and send your Alt Scamming Account some gold. One hundred gold will do just fine. Activate TOR IP Hider. Log onto the alt and claim the gold. Run to the Auction House and buy one or two Frozen Orbs.

Now at this point, you will want to make a macro to sell the Orbs. Here is a useful little site for macros.

Use the one at the top. It will enable you to make a macro with a link in it. Very useful.

Now, check the AH prices for Frozen Orbs. Say they are 60g each on your server.

Use the script from Bwerp to make a macro that will display on Trade "Selling [Frozen Orb]s. 50g per! Stack of twenty available!"

Put that in the Trade channel. Soon enough, you'll be swarmed with people wanting to buy from you. Hold out for the large buyers. Try to sell in stacks of 15 and up.

(Note: To manage whispers better, in this scam, and in all scams, here is a useful little addon: An error has occurred - Curse. What this will do is put each whisper in a seperate window, and let you track the conversation's progress. Each window can be moved and minimized.)

Now comes the Social Engineering. Make them believe you have to go eat dinner, go to bed, whatever. Use whatever excuse you can. Ask them if you can C.O.D the Orbs to them. They will almost always say yes, as they want that insanely good deal.

Now, go to the mailbox and go to the "send" option. Select C.O.D. If they bought 20 Orbs for 50g each, type in 1000 gold. Put a single Frozen Orb in the mail dock.

The subject of the letter will now say "Frozen Orb". Change this to "Frozen Orb (20)" So Frozen Orb ---> Frozen Orb (20)

Most people will now mouse over them to check if it is all twenty and will just click yes. Come back in one hour to collect your 1000 gold.

Now, to launder it.

Log out. Deactivate the IP Hider.

Log onto your main.

Put a Refreshing Water, or similar item on the AH for 1000 gold, or however much you collected. Log off. Activate the IP Hider.

Get on the Alt the money is on. Buy out that Refreshing Water. I mean, all that scamming has made you VERY thirsty. Log out. Deactivate the IP Hider once again.

Log on your main. Collect the money. Here, you can do what you want with it. BUT I suggest spending all 1000g on Frozen Orbs, or some other fast moving item(s). This way, when the person's report finally goes through, and they track the gold, they cannot take it from you, as it is in item form.

Later, you can re-sell those Frozen Orbs (Or whatever) for your gold, or maybe even more, depending on if the economy of your server improved!

I assume your alt is on a different account, since you cannot purchase the water on the AH for your own account, from your own account.
