Do you use a proxy when botting?

    Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone who does 'serious' botting; by this I mean running multiple bots to sell gold for cash, uses a proxy. I hear that Blizzard doesn't ban based on IPs but there is always the chance that my main will be connected and watched and I think it'd be safer to avoid that.

Are there any good FREE proxys available that mask IPs of programs like WoW. A friend suggested ToR but from the looks of it it's built into a browser and I'm not sure it'll work for WoW.

    Thanks

Looks good and free, have you checked to see if it does infact mask an IP from a WoW client. Do you know how to do this check? Just curious is all

    Thanks again

blizz do ban when your ip changes a lot but its only a 3 day ban, i got temp banned twice back when i was trying to find the best wow tunnel service for myself. although it can be a good idea to use a proxy/tunnel when you bot because if you do get a perma ban you can just say that you were not the one on at the time

I don't see why would they ban you for changing IP..

I use Tor, well not exactly for botting but it's good. Yes, it will hide your IP which means it will hide your IP in WOW too.

Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis

We appreciate there are circumstances where proxies can be beneficial. However, such services are routinely used to attempt to hide the actions of online trading companies and users attempting to use exploitative third party programs. This is why we don't support the use of proxy services and their use may lead to issues such as what you describe, simply because you may be sharing the service with one of these companies or individuals.

Also, this is what the guy said:

    Greetings,

I will try my best to make this short enough.

We have an online gaming cafe located in Kuwait. However because the distance between the country and Europe servers we were forced to use proxy to host our computers into French servers to minimize the high latency as much as possible, however we started to have some issues like some of our customers get blocked message that "blabla your ip and suspicious activities, we sent you a web link to your e-mail for further information" then they need to include the 1st name last name and secret answer to unlock the account. Now the question is, is it possible to give you our IPs range so you can help us to avoid this problem? it started to be annoying specially that in our cafe it's not possible for users to access any search engines or web links or websites.

It would really help and we would appreciate it a lot.
