Cataclysm Alpha - Installing (EU & US) and Discussion

If we compare it to the WoTLK alpha two years ago, they patched the client like 4 times before going to closed beta, being the Beta client itself the 5th patch that introduced the WoTLK login screen. It lasted for two monts, going from May to early July of F&F Alpha then another 5 months of Closed Beta.

If Cataclysm F&F Alpha is going to be as long as WoTLK's, and given how far they progressed in it's development just for an Alpha, then we'll see at least two patches before going into beta.

Can anyone help me... I've downloaded the client and it downloaded some tome files or something like that. When it was on 2.2/2.2 I waited like 2 hours more but "nothing moved", i pressed stop, cuz I know I have install tomes so I don't have to download it again... Now again when I try to run the installer it comes to 2% and it freezes at stormwindharbor_033.mpq I think... Help plz... Sorry for bad English...

If you came to this forum with the idea of playing the game like if you were in the Alpha, then this is the wrong place for you. What we do here is to connect using a sandbox server, or examine the files with a model viewer just to explore the new and changed areas and models Cataclysm would offer when it goes live later this year.

Can't really go there since there's no sandbox for 12025 , :-(.

Well, I spent some time today to figure out things blizzard changed in latest F&F build and made a simple sandbox. Here you go Filebeam - Beam up that File Scottie!.

P.S. I'm getting reports with sandbox doesn't work in Win7 x64. Since i'm using WinXP, I don't care about Win7.
