Asking for a friend...
AQ20... what is the easiest way out to instanced Silithus?
Non class-specific method preferred.
Thanks,

*Still works in 6.2.4 with Filled Festive Mug, or you just have to jump with 0.2 left on boots and use glider.

1) http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/worl...ng-worlds.html
What do you think about this? PTRs or private servers ? The character is referenced in an old armory.
Reachable ?
2) If I recall correctly, someone discovered an underground chair parkour at one point.
I think it's either related to darkmoon faire, or this :
http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/worl...char-cave.html
Could have been RaoV, VoTuS, or someone from here.
Can you help me retrieve this ?
3) This is totally random. I remember a place, that I cannot link to anything in WoW, that I explored once.
I think this was a recurrent dream I had, because I kept a very good memory of exploring this place, to the point where I'm not sure if this is reality or not.
There was a castle in a WoW looking world. I was with friends and we where going to start the castle dungeon, but instead of going for the common portal, I decided to explore a bit, and found a location where you could go through a wall, and jump to reach the uninstanced version of it. I don't remember the interior of the castle, but on the outside were two platforms before a forest.
On the first platform you could see 3 fountains with floating symbols and objects that changed shapes continuously, some of them in pink textures. On the second floor I think there were mobs, and a forest.
Three words came to my mind while reading this : raven, barrack, castle. But I don't see anything looking like this in WoW. Badly painted landscapes : Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet
So, just to be sure : this place isn't real right ? (I also read lovecraft during that time.)
And also, did you had explorer's dreams ?

(Technically Dopefish reached old outland legitimately once but that was a long time ago. I also don't think he was able to walk there. Just flew past it.) Even with model editing its highly unlikely we'll ever see development again.
ok i REALLY want to know how someone even managed tl fly past development.
(don't post things I post to Patreon.)

Around the 37 minute mark.
Not development but Old Outlands.
The same old outlands shown here:
Old outlands was actually on the Eastern Kingdoms map from patch 0.5.5 (bottom left of the map) till 1.12.1 (The patch almost all vanilla private servers run unfortunately.)
Dopefish managed to fly past it by dueling a friend on the zeppelin and having the friend fear him right as the zeppelin started moving. It started glitching out and he flew way outside of the boundaries of the map and actually past old outland.
(The glitch worked with boats too)

Interesting... I believe the original founder of RIdPEF once legitimately accessed Emerald Dream using a similar glitch...

You can see part of the exploit to go to old outland in the exploration movie.
https://youtu.be/UDQyEe06Q-M?t=37m45s part of the exploit to gain access to old outland. I'm almost positive there's also a clip showing what they were doing on the boat.
Very interested in the emerald dream part. I thought nobody ever went there legitimately, without model swapping or gm commands. Can you tell me a bit more ?
@Dovah :
"We gathered 80+ Gnomes on Moonglade (EU-RP), and made our last wallwalk from Dun Morogh, all the way to The Great Sea Unused, just above Orgrimmar."
PART 3/3 (other parts in the related videos) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3MD-5Vfu3o
Didn't find the place after a very quick search.
Also, I found an answer for my second question : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9IEFiATYT0 yeah !

I can't. What I've said is all that I have heard. They are a secretive bunch, and with good reason!

I very clearly recall someone (lol defo not trok) saying that nobody actually ever accessed the ED legitimately, but only through very clever editing and such.

Is exploration dead ?
Since WoD, I didn't see any discoveries, did I miss something ? Or did everyone left WoW ?
Same for Legion, nothing new was found as of yet, or did I miss something ? (I only saw a nice box in shadowmoon dungeon from ridpef)
Did you explore the sandbox and found nothing, or did you skip it ?
And if anyone has a working client/sandbox to share for legion (not updated to a non-working build), i'd love to get it !

Every time they release a new map (dungeon, raid, open world area), there are new areas to explore and objects to view.
Everbloom, Iron Docks, Skyreach, Highmaul, etc... they all had great areas to explore.
Just about every new WoD dungeon had an exploration video tied to it.
I would expect the same of Legion.
General interest and posting in Exploration has definitely waned...
But as long as they add new content, then there will always be something new to discover.
Exploration may get quiet at times, but it will never die.

I don't think there has been a decline other than that in wow in general.
Of those players that remain exploration has become almost mainstream as people struggle to find things to do.
On this forum I think your semi-retirement and the absence of some other posters has caused a decline, plus late in an expansion there's not much that is new you can find.
I'd expect things to kick off again with the film and legion. As you say, exploration will never die: any time a player wonders what lies over a hill an explorer is born.

A few things about your last concerns:
- Facing Worlds is fake, see appropriate thread.
-Those fast travels were achieved by getting feared from moving boats/zeppelins while standing in specific spots. It use to send you in uncontrollable clientside flights threw the currently loaded map until the taxi hit the zoning trigger, after the loading screen you'd reappear on the taxi as if nothing had happened. (See another example here) {which you actually never left, meaning you could NOT stop your flight to explore old outland using this somehow 'legit' technique- reaching old outland while it was still attached to the Eastern Kingdoms map on live servers required either making an actual road (ADT edit) or change the booty bay's boat's path (DBC edit) which was too advanced for most people.}
-Only times Emerald Dream was actually reached (no terrain swap) were:
>On several occasions, some PTR builds allowed "/console worldport MapId x y z" command to be used by players.
>During Wotlk Alpha, taxi zoning issues while standing in a spot sent Zhao (retired RidPef admin) into random map IDs including ED.
>Everything else is fake/private server footage, including that made totally unrelated green smoke in Mount Hyjal story which was totally made up.
-This picture from The Last Wallwalk was taken next to the Ironforge Airport, one of the most popular unreachable areas.
-This obstacle course are model sets used by mappers/modelers during development process, they are commonly found underground, often attached to big WMOs, and similar patchs of doodads can be found all around the maps.
