I have a checklist of things to try every patch that I run through. A variety of things to do with names is on that list.

The only problem with this that i see is that if you reserve a name on a "trash" character, if you later delete it to try to use the name for someone you want to use, you might still get the error (when they fix this). So perhaps would be smart to use the names on classes/races/realms that you actually MIGHT use them on later.

Here you go some ideas:
- double title (some names are taken) like Insane the Insane (which is insanely cool) etc, try some of them: Titles - World of Warcraft
- dota things like: wickedsick, godlike (got that on low pop server), ultrakill etc
- try to mess with titles: lord, king etc. (I grabbed zombielord, lordofundead, elflord, elfking - HUGE!)

Damn, I cannot stop generating cool names. IMO the best so far is GODLORD - surprisingly this one is available on most realms. And Dracula is decent

Update: Deathlord - also available even on high pop. Grab it fast, nice name for undead DK
