Yours does not mention the petabandon macro, which is an incredibly integral part of this thread.

Yours also does not include the specific pet.

You didn't even link the thread you're referring to (I had to go find it to make sure they're not the same).

Please don't make a useless post if you don't have anything to contribute to the discussion.
If you don't know what you're talking about, don't flame. The abandon macro does exactly the same as reviving. And saying it doesnt include this pet is just retarded. That's like posting 'Become a GM of a mass guild for 251g/day! This aint a repost because the other one said 250g/day!"

I've no wish to get into a war with you, but please research your information at petopia.

revive pet doesn't work with pets that do not retain buffs (visual or otherwise) on death. petabandon does.
That's why this works with any number of the mobs from Blasted Lands that have the Fel Taint buff for 15% more damage. While that was not expressly included at the beginning of the thread, the two methods are different and have different implications for what a hunter can do.
If you're not going to speak civilly and rationally to me, don't do it at all, please.

Just confirming this pet can still be tamed with a perm visual effect. The simplified way I can offer is:

As many others have mentioned the BEST way is no macro, let the boar die as the tame finishes. Cast Tame Pet from on top of the trough with a friend throwing the torch at the right time.

Here's what I have to add. With 0 speed increases equipped, this is really easy to time. There are level 3 and level 4 boars. The flame will kill level 3 boars in 6 seconds, and will kill level 4 boars in 7 seconds. This makes it very easy to time. Just throw the torch 4 sec into the tame cast if you're taming a level 3, and 3 sec if you're taming a level 4.

The last step that's already been mentioned quite a bit, is cast revive pet as the tame is finishing. As of 3-11-11, this still works on US realms.

The timing is all in the level of the mob.

Wow, I never even noticed the mob level issue. Perhaps that's why I had such a hard time...

Regarding the visual effect, I was led to believe it is not permanent and you will have a regular pig if it ever dies and gets rezzed. After reading Janube's and Dz5's posts, I'm not sure this is the case, but I hate to test it myself since I had such a hard time with it.

Pig's fine to die unless it was changed very recently. Mine's died many times. Any beast who keeps a visual effect after death in the wild, like the boars, will keep it in death after taming as well.

When done correctly, the effect IS perm on this one. A friend and I both have it, and have tested letting the pet die after taming.

after hours of trying this with a buddy i finally got it.....solo. without berserking, and without a haste pot. i am a bloodelf lvl 85

-my haste was at 1337 (not even kidding) not hard to get, just grab whatever you can find off the AH if you dont have it.

-used the revive pet technique, if you dont see a "level up blast" and your res pet is casting, it probably worked.

-location is key. you want the torch to be in the air as long as possible. use the trough close to the steep hill (the one where the rare spawn pops that you have probably killed over 9000 times) the point is to have the torch not only making a forward motion, but also a downward drop to keep it in the air as long as possible. find the exact spot where you are out of taming range and inch your way forward till you can tame it.

-iceblock boar, throw torch and hit tame as quickly as possible. quartz cast bar helps out a lot here, if you have decent latency you should have a tiny red "latency bar" in which you want to hit revive.

    -no log out needed.

    Good Luck!

I did this solo, without even grabbing some special gear or anything. Just icetrap a boar, walk as far out as you can to throw the torch, then quickly walk the two-three steps into taming range and start the taming. Spam revive, and you get the pet. The reason this works is because it takes the extra second or two for the torch to fly in the air.

This doesn't appear to be true. I just tamed one yesterday and it has its effect.

I did this with a hunter friend and after messing with it trying different things for about 20 min it finally worked. We weren't sure exactly what we did to get it to work.

Then I tried it again with another friend and after about 1 hr of trying we never could get it to work.

This thread has like 15 different people giving 15 different sets of instructions on how this works. Half the instructions are saying that you HAVE to log out, etc, which I know is not true because my first friend did not have to.

Does anyone know FOR SURE what the exact, simple, step-by-step instructions are that work?
