Maybe I did something wrong, but when I left the party I got a nicely deserter debuff.

-Queued for dungeon
-When dungeon popped up, immediately went flight form and then fall > die > release
-accept the queue
-I didn't got ported to dungeon and via hovering I could see it was HC SFK, which just plain sucks
-Left party afterwards and got the dungeon deserter debuff

Maybe it's only for me but hopefully more people can confirm if its working or not.

did exactly everything you did, only thing different was my dungeon was deadmines, and oh do I hate that place due to the vancleef achievement that took forever to earn legitimately.

Haven't been able to try since server's are down BUT:

-The OP stated that he died first THEN queued for the dungeon.
