I would say it isn't. I can't imagine they would even know you were seeing the new content. It probably basically just changes the models.

Dont go into SFK lol youll get stuck in load screen
Also, you caint chat at all and everyones names comes up as Unknown
still kinda cool you get to see some new content

Models, WMO's and ADT's get changed. Looks like there's something in the base-xxXX.mpq that basically restricts the loading of specific content. The PTR is basically a pseudo-neutered Cataclysm, which is pretty awesome on Blizzard's part (either it's a serious oops, or they imagined that this would happen).

This is working great on the enUS client.

Only thing is that, as you said, FP's and such won't work.

However, they do work if you just connect with the Beta Client.

In other words, if you want FP's, just use the Beta client.

This exploit will be very useful if Blizz patches the beta client to not connect to PTR though.

Works for Germans too. Just move the base-deDE out of the folder and put it somewhere else... I tested it without having downloaded the game further then to the yellow-line.

I'm using this with the PTR and flight paths work for me, I flew from Stormwind to Booty bay, then from Booty Bay to Westfall.

Put the file back in the folder?

If you deleted it you probably have to reinstall or something, not sure.

Thats the thing. I did put the file back. But the same effect still stands. :-(
