How to load the Cataclysm areas with the PTR client.

As I wrote earlier, it seem like some people gets a error on load and some don't. Make sure you don't enter Kalimdor cause that will give you an error and turn off any addons to be sure that's not what's causing it just to be sure.

Can you train your flying to be able to fly in azeroth with this? I have seen a druid flying above stormwind but was unsure how he did it.

Nope it loads areas not npcs.
The druid used another exploit.

Yeah I can confirm replacing the file back reverts everything just fine, not suprisingly I saw several other people clearly doing this also as they were exploring the same new areas that would otherwise be in a mountain or in the ocean lol.

The new patch fixed it

They got these new .lock files that will replace the files as soon as u launch the game. If you deny access to them, the game crashes =(

Sounds like we should all just download a copy of the beta and use the ptr relamlist.wtf file, can confirm that works just fine, even for kalimdor

It looks like they fixed the using beta client too, PTR login to realm seems to have version check and disconnects if your not using that specific PTR client now.

The latest beta downloader has been posted in several threads, just do a search, I don't see it being much use atm though. You can't get on beta server without the account already being flagged for beta access and the ptr servers now version check.

Looking into other ideas, the beta client runs so much smoother than their gimped ptr one.
