I haven't seen anything posted about this, and stumbled on this almost by accident.
So, I was in the process of unlocking my account, when I received two different emails
The first was asking for the full form to be faxed/emailed with a photo copy of my identification..
The second was asking for this following information:
- Account Name:
- First and Last Name of Registered Player:
- Acknowledgement That the Computer Has Been Secured:
- Acknowledgement That the Email Associated to the Account Has Been Secured:
So... I sent in the information they asked for in the second email... in about 12 hours, my account was unlocked and playable...
I'm beginning to think that Blizz maintains two levels of Account Unlocking procedures... The first being simply asking for the above information... The second (and higher tier) would be asking for the Photo ID and faxed form.
Now, I'm beginning to think that the email system @ [email protected] doesn't really check the "level" requested to complete the restore, but simply if steps were taken..
I encourage you all to send the above listed information to [email protected] and start unlocking your accounts... So far it was worked 2 out of 2 times. (First for my account, second for a MMOwned member looking for help)
Notes: I posted this in the private forums a while back, bumping this down to the normal section to let some other people try...
So far it has about a 25% success rate, but to have a 25% chance to possibly unlock an account that isn't yours is better than nothing.
Also, here is the initial "Tier 1" Unlock email format sent by Blizzard (Feel Free to use for other scam/fake mailers):
