So, you've either got a scammed account.. or one of your account's has been locked due to trading, selling, buying or whatever. That's fine. A lot of people give up once they realise that they need to send in Photo ID of the name on the account, I guess it can seem a little hard to accomplish.

Rest assured, it's much easier than you think. What you will see below may have been commonsense and commonplace among people with locked accounts, but a few days ago I saw someone advertising ID's to unlock your WoW account for $30 a piece.. when I see that, I think to myself that's not really that fair, as it can literally take you 5 minutes and a fax to do it, sometimes.

Anyhow, so you've got your account locked and printed off your account retrieval forms. It asked for the account name, the registered name on the account and all of that. That's up to you to fill out however you like. NOTE: When filling out the form, you don't need to fill in details that the account HAD on it, but rather, you're putting NEW details onto the account. IE - Where it says address, and you're wondering what to put in - you don't put in what the legit account holder had, you put in whatever you want it to be changed to.

Right, so you've filled out this form and now just need the ID part. I always used a school ID, as I did it many times before I even got my learner's license. You can do it with a license, but it may even be a little harder with that. Regardless, I used a school ID and it worked fine many times.

What you do:

• Put your ID into the scanner and scan it
• Open the scanned ID on your computer using "Paint"
• Once in Paint with your ID open, go to (usually under the photo) where it has the name of the student, and erase the name completely.
• Then, select the "A" tool, it allows you to type. Create a smallish box, around the size that the name took up before you removed it from the ID.
• Try and select a font size and type that most suits the rest of the writing on the ID.
• Once selected suitable font size and type, proceed to type in the name of the Account holder on the account you're trying to unlock.
• Once typed the name, feel free to adjust it so that it sits naturally under the photo, so it does not look out of place.
• NOTE: Do not put your font as bold or italic or any of that, as sometimes they would return an email saying the fax was illegible. You do not want bold, as this might delay your whole retrieval.
• If they do send back saying illegible, then just open the ID again with paint, and try and simply make it more legible. I had to do this I think three times just for one account, until they accepted it finally when they were able to read it. Don't worry about "sending it in 5 times, they might catch on" because it simply does not happy, keep sending in until they say it's ok.

And that's about all there is to it

Hopefully this saves some people some old locked account, stress and maybe even money.

Nope, the 5 or 6 that I have done did not need to be.

On some you do though, I think.

Secondly, yes I realise it is commonsense to some.. but definitely not to all, if someone can come onto this forum (where you would expect everyone knows this) and make 30 ID's at $30 each from one thread.. then quite simply, not enough people know about it, or how EASY it is to be done

Yet it worked many times for me... because they can really pick up on the quality difference after massive deterioration through faxing it.. right

but if you have a pretty good scanner then you will have to use Photoshop :P

You need to re read what I just said. Regardless of scan quality or print quality, when you FAX something the quality goes down a shit load. Don't believe me, go check. Now after checking, try and explain to me how they would be able to distinguish between "quality" from photoshop or paint when simply just changing a name around...

Answer is, they wouldn't.

If you were sending it digitally to their email.. then it's a different story.
