[Exploit] Hide and Heal AB while Horde Ignore You (dwarf only)

I didn't actually think this would work because I gave horde more credit than they actually deserve apparently... No less, if you are in AB and a the farm there is a pumpkin several paces away from the flag that is slightly larger than all the others. If you are playing a dwarf pally (and maybe priest - I haven't tested with the animations) you can stand inside the pumpkin with only the smallest bit of your head sticking out the top (at least with my pig tail hair cut - for others it might not stick out at all). if you position yourself right your head will blend in with the stem, and you can heal indeffinately from your clever hiding place.

It's not fool proof because you can still be targeted, and if people have their interface to set up to show character names they'll see your name. That said, I'm amazed at how often when I stand there horde just run right past me. Apparently either not all that many people have the names turned on to see the red over the pumpkin to target, or people see the red, don't see an alliance character standing anywhere, and assume it's a corpse on the other side of the pumpkin and keep on running.

On average I'd say I get people attacking me 75% less while standing in the pumpkin vs, often being one of the first to be targeted when they realize that I'm healing.

You can obviously hide there as a gnome too (even better actually since they are smaller) , and other classes but if they see the pumpkin tossing fireballs at them, or you make an attack before someone else resulting in an auto target, it might not do much good. I guess if a mage wanted to they could keep people sheeped from there, but it's kind of a waste of a player on the team.

For me it's been pretty damn useful, but as I said not fool proof. Depends on how observant/smart the horde are. It's a better than alot of hiding spots since it's close to where the action should be (at the flag) and thus you can actually do something while hiding.

Come to think of it, this might work well for gnome locks too since their spells don't have quite as much flash as mages. Just make sure to dismiss your pet so it doesn't look like it's guarding the pumpkin.

Could you post a screen shot of yourself in the pumpkin?

Will do tonight when I get home. No WoW at work - I'm just on break. It's well tested since I've been doing it every match Alliance has the farm since I found it.

It should be noted that this ONLY works if Alliance has the farm, since the pumpkins disappear when horde control it.

Actually, a gnome mage would be pretty fun to do this with. Just use spells that don't have a projectile, like Scorch, Arcane Blast, Fire Blast, etc.

The only thing that you need to be careful of is the auto selecting target thing while doing damage. If you are the first to attack, then you will be the target of your attacker, and that will draw attention to you. Depending on the player they might either just start doing ranged DPS on you figuring that if you can hit them they are in range to hit you and start firing/casting, they might start actively hunting around for you, or... and I'm not sure what it looks like on the horde side... if their targets have the little glow around them it may or may not show through the pumpkin. There of course is also the chance that someone else will hit them, and they'll change target to someone closer. You'll also be auto targeted if the person you are attacking kills their current target and you are the first to do damage to them after.

I don't have a ranged DPS class that are even over level 10 so I can't really say how well DPSing will work with the pumpkin, but at least with heals, the game will not automatically be turning horde your direction via the auto-target.

Then again if you are an especially nasty multi boxer with several mages or locks, you could probabally kill them before they move far enough your direction to give away your hiding spot.

    Ask and ye shall recieve!

Here are three screen shots, that have been cropped to remove names that blong to me and to other people in the BG. The huge missing box in the middle of the screen is healbot so it had lots of names. >.>

I recommend sitting or drinking until they show up becuase you're more or less completely hidden to those who do not have names displayed.

Standing you can see a little of your head, but most people running past on mounts aren't examining the pumpkin close enough to notice. A gnome would be consealed completely so if you have yourself a leper gnome costume, duel someone with a discombobulator ray, use a holiday changer (ie christmas) or some other gnomage even as a non-dwarf you can hide and heal, admittedly even better than those that have the healing abilities in class.

Casting is visible, however it's only brief, and generally speaking I only start healing after other team mates are engaged so their attention isn't focused on the glowing squash.

    Enjoy.

You can try it on horde for a while if you have a friend with a leper gnome wand

    lol, we DO exist!

maybe I should remove those screen shots because all Blizz would have to do is look up "Dwarf, Female" and be like "Well there's only 5 of them and only one that as in battlegrounds since the patch."

    lol kidding

hiding inside of game objects isn't an exploit at all.

We can agree to disagree on this one.

Hiding in a game object... in most cases is a very mild exploit in that you're able to stand or sit there unseen by other playerswithout using stealth. Just because you can run through some objects does NOT mean that Blizz created them for people to hide in. More likely is that they were created that way to prevent people and pets from getting stuck on the objects (it happens more often than I'd like - especially with my pets), yet still introduce the content to make the game visually appealing.

Healing inside of a game object so that people who would normally kill you don't pay attention to you -is- much more potent. Especially when it's only one pumpkin that is big enough to work - it implies that blizz didn't intend the pumpkins for this use. I don't think the creators of the game intended for people to heal unseen, etc. If they did, priests and pallies would have stealth inducing spells, and druid stealth wouldn't break when they begin casting.
