    Moving a server

Last night, I went into my virtual server which has been housing a project my friends and I have been working on. After zipping it, I moved the Arcemu folder which holds as far as I know the whole server and its databases to my home computer.
When that was done, I took the Arcemu zip and transferred it from my home computer to the new dedicated we got (for a lot less than originally planned thanks to Stoneharry). I also transferred all of the necessary installation programs (MySQL Server 5.0, .Net Framework 3.5, Tortoise SVN, Visual C++, etc) and installed those first.
Everything looks fine in the folders after I unzipped it. However, I click to open arcemu-logonserver and get
    Code:
12:55 E [Arcemu] MySQLDatabase: Connection Failed due to: `Unknown Database 'logon'`
Any idea what I screwed up on?
When I check out WhyDB100 - Development - Ascent_world, all the database tables are present as HeidiSQL files. Do I need to execute these and then execute SQL files for the logon database? I would assume that all these things are already present and functional if I simply zipped and did a clean transfer.

    Thanks!

Did you check your config and make sure that it matches with what it's trying to connect to? Not really sure how to do it but i believe that it could have something to do with the configs.

It sounds like the database is either named something different or does not exist.

It appears you did not transfer your files properly.

Well it seems I transferred correctly, but I needed to create new databases through MySQL on the dedicated.
These databases were empty so I zipped and transferred the character, logon, and world databases from the old virtual. Character and logon were processed (Restore from SQL Dump) fairly quickly. However, world is taking forever. Position in file shows as 10MB of 603 MB after 18 hours since I let it go over night. At this rate, it could take over a month.
So now I'm stuck in a spot where I want/need to keep the world DB I have due to how much custom content is on it and yet it's literally going to take a month it to Restore from SQL Dump. Ugh, I don't know what to do.

What do other people do when they switch their server to a different host? Is there an easier or faster way to get the world DB queried? It's on character_names at the moment.

What software are you using to import the database?

Navicat is extremely slow, i've never tried HeidiSQL.

I would definitely give SQLyog a try.

In addition, 603MB is huge. I really doubt you have that much custom content, since the native Blizzard database is roughly ~80MB. Something is probably wrong if it's that large.

I'd try dumping the database to an SQL file with SQLyog, and re-importing it on your dedicated server with SQLyog.

If that doesn't work, i'd start separating my custom data into a separate database. I'd dump that to an SQL, import a clean world DB on your dedicated server, and import the custom SQL.

Thanks! Giving your suggestions a shot. Inside the database editors it shows it being about 120MB and not 603. I tried re-exporting and when they are exported and turned into an SQL file they show as 603. Bizarre indeed, but I'll try to work around it as you said. I'm exporting only tables that would affect custom content and I'm going to load everything manually.

Thanks again -- I'll rep you after I "spread more around"
