Okay. I'm a complete noob at this. I've never tried anything like it. However, one my roommates is pretty good at this kind of stuff and now he's lost too.

1I'm trying to install MaNGOS on my mac. I'm using the guide at http://www.mmowned.com/forums/how-cr...tallation.html
I've made it to #3 for the most part. I got all the stuff downloaded to mangos_source. The next part is about patching...and I have no idea what it's talking about. So, any hints?

it means getting the patch u want for your WoW Private Server. like i am running patch 1.11, u will also need a hackpatch, whatever patch u get u will need a hackpatch identicle to it (patch 1.11, hackpatch 1.11)

i dont think you need a hack-patch for a MaNGOS server...

Okay, I can get the patch without any problem. But I'm not sure I even have MaNGOS set up yet. Where do I put the patch? In the guide it says to "apply the patches" and then in the box there's a bunch of random text. I don't think I'm supposed to paste that all into my terminal am I? Or do I just stick the patch straight into the mangos_source folder?

you DO NOT need a hackpatch for Mangos. If you downloaded the Mangos server from Skull's thread or Berryman's it doesn't matter. Both work just fine. There is a guide in the Mangos folder Docs (that is after you install Mangos) that will take you through the rest of the process of setting up the server. Mangos is different than most Emu in that is has an all encompassing exe file which does most of the work for you. Making it easier for first timers to make a private server.

EDIT: And specifically Gelliebeen you need to have your version of WoW match the version of the private server you want to run (sounds like common sense...huh, but people don't seem to grasp the concept) That is what it means by applying all the patches. For the Mangos in Skull's thread the server version is 1.11x and for the one in Berryman's is 1.12x. So which ever one you have that is how far you have to patch it.

Okay, so should I copy my regular WoW folder and paste it somewhere else, but make it a different patch? I can't use the downloadables on Skull's or Berry's threads because they're .exe and I use a mac So I'm trying to follow that one guide to install Mangos. But now, instead of that patch thing, I'm using a file called INSTALL that was in the directory all the files got downloaded to when I connected to sourceforge. It says to type ./configure in my terminal, and things start happening up until it gets an error saying "configure: error: Missing mysql"
1I do have mysql installed though, and it's running.
Any chance I can AIM one of you guys? When I say I'm a noob at this I really mean it. It's all a really big learning process for me

Exactly. Mac standard installation extension is .dmg
I've also installed things that were just zipped up. But I'm sure if you can figure this out you'd make plenty of Mac users happy. I know a ton of Mac users that play WoW

1) How do I fix loot? I've found the creature_loot_template in my database, and i've adjusted it so first) there was stuf IN the mobs loot table at all, and second) all the loot he's suposed to have is in it. But it just won't drop.
When I looted nefarian. (wich is still bugged), at first I saw in my DOS window he had another GUID then the .lookupcreature command says he deos, so I added his items to that GUID, now that message in my DOS is gone, but he still doesn't drop stuff.

I want to make the repairbot my uber loot NPC since I can drop him anywhere, repair, sell, and buy stuff. Again just give me a little time.

Yea weapons and armor and items are nps for me anymore, but I really want to get my mates the chance to buy stuff on the server...but can't figure out how to make the NPCs.

when i made a server it just says logging in to game server then it gets back to server list

this happens sometimes, just keep selecting your realm. it will work.

The version of the game is 1.11 and the version of the reapack is the one on smithen1's guide to make a emu
