ArcEmu is easy to customize, Aspire has some good features, mangos imo is just confusing.

I recommend ArcEmu, even though it's a "Free Style" Core.
MaNGOS is stable, and as Greed said: "Mangos imo is just confusing." which is correct.
Can i ask what part of MaNGOS is confusing?
Since i really can't think of anything o_o
90% of commands, the database, the format of the core. It's confusing but if you get used to it, it's great.
Arcemus commands, database, core is confusing to me, since i havent learned them.
You can use 100% the same argument on each combination.
To me the commands of mangos are fine, format of core, i don't care, since stuff works.
As for database.. much better than ascent's one. Mean, creature_proto, creature_names.. why the hell they should be in separate tables? Not to mention how the addons are handled..
My opinion...
ArcEmu is too messed up. The whole thing is totally unsorted. Localization isn't properly supported, lots of things are hardcoded, much of the code is impossible to understand because it's... Well, bad.
MaNGOS, on the other hand, is a very structurized project. The team is dedicated, the code is clean, the community works. I don't get how the DB/commands are hard to understand. Vladimir did loads of command updates recently, and they all have nice help messages and are divided into subgroups for easy undestanding. The database makes lots of sense, if you actually care to read before just throwing random shit into it. *hint* UDB wiki */hint*
@Dythzer: Well said, friend.
I'm just saying for example: Arcemu: .summon, mangos .namego, you can see what I mean by confusing. If you want to mod something you do .mod, if you want to cheat .cheat, it just gets confusing on mangos as it is no longer common sense. I'm not a Mangos hater I actually love it and have had dedi servers using it. I just prefere ArcEmu because it has never failed me, not has antrix, I have 250+ online at a time, no problems, and it's common sense. Everything is simple logic!![]()
.mod = .modify i dont see the difference.
And complaining about commands being nonunderstable, thats the fault of the user.
Once you learn them it doesnt matter is it .summon .namego or .getthatpieceofhotasstomerightnow and so on.![]()
Scyther, from what I can see Aspire doesn't eat up alot of memory until you get 500+ players on and even then you still have a good uptime.
Yeah but Henkke, my point is ArcEmu is pretty much what you see is what you get.
Mangos can do just the same, but if a complete noob came accross it, they'd find it impossible, while with ArcEmu or Aspire they would stand a chance. It's easier to develop because you know what everything is just by looking at it.
Ok, well i can't really say anything to that since it's something that i don't understand.
Probably human or view spesific, like does the user use repacks only or has any intentions to learn anything.
Since it's like an languange, if you born, it doesnt matter what languange will be taught to you, you will learn it good. So in this case if a complete newb comes to wow emu community, it doesnt matter does he take aspire, arcemu, mangos, wcell, or anything..
if you understand my point, this is as far as i can take it since i don't really understand that "what everything is just by looking at it."
Might be becouse mangos is not hebrew to me and as poster few posts above said
"ArcEmu is too messed up. The whole thing is totally unsorted. Localization isn't properly supported, lots of things are hardcoded, much of the code is impossible to understand because it's... Well, bad."
On another note, the idea people have about MaNGOS being 100% blizzlike is... Lame.
If it was 100% blizzlike, why configurable rates? Why an FFAPVP gamemode? Why custom starting levels -- with 100/255 as client/server max? I could go on...
As Henkke said, what matters is if you're willing to learn. If not, you'll never get anywhere.
I never said it was 100% blizzlike, I said it supports blizzlike best![]()
Yeah, wasn't referring to you :P, just "some" people who say it *only* supports blizzlike things.
ahhhh... rember the days when we had antrix those where the days... 2.1.0 still have the server on disk... anyway ya mangos sucks but it is stable but it makes wow look all distorted...
